Disclaimer: No, I do not own Harry Potter because J. K. Rowling does.
Claimer: I own this idea. Well, I always did.
Author's Notes: Hi, this is my first story here, so feedback is especially helpful. Yes, it will be canon, and there will be absolutely no slash or any
illegal actions. This however cannot stay completely canon, but I'll try combining it with the Harry Potter series as best as possible. The adventures
every year will of course be the same. This idea is a style I use to write, but I have return to it because it seems suitable enough for this story. I
feel I can do this without displeasing the author too badly. This idea comes from an old and more pathetic version named Sitting Trouble. Please review!
Prologue
“Remus! Are you home?” Dumbledore called out while he tapped calmly at the door. This was urgent, but knocking frantically wasn't going to assist him much
either. The old headmaster of Hogwarts, the one and only Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, stood on the steps to Remus's small modest house. The
door cracked open. A tall, thin, shabby man appeared behind the opening.
Remus asked opening the door wider, “Albus? What's the matter?” He stepped out. Dumbledore looked gravely in to Remus's eyes.
Albus explained, “It is your hard efforts at trying to gain the custody of Harry that brings me here. We had receive some evidences that he has been left
by his relatives at a deserted location, thus he needs a guardian. I thought you would be the perfect one." Remus looked shocked and worried. He stood
still, his face turning pale. Harry out of all people had to be treated so poorly.
Remus said emotionally, "Uh, H-Harry i-is l-left?" Dumbledore gravely looked at Remus with sad eyes and nodded. Tears were now visible in the eyes of Remus
and clearly it was pity.
"Shall we step inside? Ah, it's a very long explanation. Yes, thank you," Albus said as Remus held the door open and they stepped inside. Remus drew out
a chair and Dumbledore did so as well.
Remus asked quietly with a tone of being morbid, "So what's the case?" Dumbledore composed himself.
"Well, it was Harry's anger I supposed that started it all. He did something to his teacher's wig. I think he turned it blue. With this the Dursleys got
angry and combining it with many other things, which is undoubtedly not fair, they decided to leave him. So, ah, they drove him around and finally the
uncle left him at the edge of a forest. He gave excuses and as a child, Harry was angry, but he believed him. It might also have been the uncle driving
off too quickly for him to respond properly. He has been there for three hours now. We were pretty sure it was so, but now we are positive," Remus looked
shocked and emotional.
He looked down to avoid Albus seeing his eyes getting more teary.
"I am going, Albus. Where is he? Quickly," he said urgently. Dumbledore sprang to his feet and ran after Remus as he was already at the door. He stood firmly
erect in front of Lupin.
"This is depressing and something needs to be done fast. However, we shall not be rash. The last thing we want is to get the wrong emotions across to Harry.
I will go with you. He's in the forest nearest to Kent," Albus spoke. Remus and Albus apparated quickly to where Harry was, or as close to it as they could
without the knowledge of Harry James Potter to not scare him. They rapidly got closer.
"You need to be gentle with him. The last thing we need is to frighten the boy. Kindness is something he needs and don't be shocked if he tries to go against
us. He has gone through a great deal," said Dumbledore. Harry was sitting on a stump, and was restlessly fidgeting with his hands. He was weeping heartily.
Remus and Albus approached quickly, and as silently as they could.
"Hello, Harry," said Dumbledore as calmly as he could. Harry, with his green eyes stared up at them and he sprang up about to run away. It was frightening
to the four year old Harry that someone knew his name and he was scared of them. He thought they were untrustworthy people, and he tried to hide behind
the tree.
"It's all right, Harry. We're here to help you," Remus tried gently getting closer to Harry. Harry shrank back frightfully. He tried to conceal himself.
"Harry, I swear, we're not here to hurt you," Remus said kindly. He backed up a few paces, so it wouldn't seem like he was forcing it on him. He leaned
on a tree.
"You promise?" said Harry who was emerging from the tree slowly. Remus beckoned him to come towards him.
"I promise Harry," Remus reassured quietly. He went forth and held out a hand. He helped Harry come closer to the place he was, and where Albus stood.
Harry quietly looked up with wonder, "How did you know my name?" Remus hesitated, and Dumbledore stepped forward.
"Harry, we'll explain in a little. Let’s get you to a comfortable place first. I know you will find it suitable, Harry. I know this method of traveling
won't be as comfortable as you'd like, but it's the fastest. Come here," he said and with that he turned to Remus, "Remus, help me with Harry, we'll go
to Hogwarts." With that Remus and Dumbledore on either side of Harry took hold of him gently, but firmly enough that he would not slip from their grip.
A second later they were at Hogwarts. Harry was gasping for breath, and he was sobbing once more.
Harry muttered almost under his breath, "That was bad. I don't like it." Harry sobbed as Remus put an arm around him and held him tightly.
"It's over, Harry. We're there. It wouldn't have been that quick if we didn't apparate. It's over, Harry. Here," Remus let go of him gently, and fished
out a chocolate frog. As Harry looked around he spotted the castle and started running. However, he was weak, so he stumbled, tripped, and was going
to fall, but Remus caught him. Remus picked Harry up and carried him into the castle. Dumbledore made the Gryffindor tower available to them as the castle
was empty, because of it being summer. Harry had fallen asleep right away in Remus's arms. Remus laid him gently on a four poster, and tucked him in.
"Well, we might as well turn in for the night, as well. When Harry wakes, come find me up at my office. The password is Sweets. Goodnight," Dumbledore said
as he turn to go. He open the door and slipped out quickly not wanting to wake Harry. Remus set up his bed next to Harry and slept the night away.

Disclaimer: You think I own Harry Potter, seriously? Ha, then you’re wrong because I am sorry to say, but J. K. Rowling wrote it.

Author's note: Ah, I hope this chapter is satisfying.
Chapter One: Arrangements
Remus was scribbling away at his parchment. He turned to the clock and glanced at it, but he also saw that Harry was sitting up in bed quietly. He was just
looking around. Remus put down his quill.
Remus asked, "Have you been up for long?" Harry shook his head.
Remus asked, "Just a few minutes?" Remus bent over his papers and rolled it up and tucked it with the quill under the bed.
"No, just woke now. I didn't talk, because I was scared. You were reading your papers," Remus smiled as he quickly got out his robe for the day. He walked
closer to the bathroom.
"Well, Harry, you can wake me up or come get me whenever you want. It really doesn't bother me. Give me a minute Harry. I want to get changed rather quickly.
Here, Harry. Get yourself ready the best you can I’ll come out if you need help," Remus handed Harry a robe and noted that he'll have to get him some robe
more suitable for his age as soon as he could. Remus went inside changing quickly, and after that he exited. He went toward the four poster bed that Harry
was on. After bending down and stuffing his night things under it he straightened up. He surveyed Harry and nodded.
Lupin asked as he went to the door, "Well, shall we proceed to the great hall?" Harry followed him down the staircase and out of the portrait hole.
"It's big," observed Harry. Remus and Harry walked down the hall and Harry stared around in amazement.
"Yes. Yes, it is, but with all the students, well, it could be quite crowded." Remus and Harry reached the marble staircase which Remus descended and Harry
did the same. After reaching the ground floor they turned down a corridor and reached the two gargoyles.
"Sweets," Remus prompted, and the gargoyles jumped aside.
"Come along, Harry," Remus said going into the doors.
"Ah, sir," Harry said quietly. Remus walked forward and ascended the stairs.
"Call me Remus, Harry," he said. After reaching the top Landing, Remus approached the door, and knocked on the door with the Gryffindor knocker.
"Come in," Dumbledore's calm voice echoed from the inside. Remus's hands went to the knob.
"Harry, stand back, please. I'm opening the door." Harry stepped back, and Remus swung open the door.
"Ah, good morning, Harry," greeted Dumbledore. Remus approached the desk and Harry followed very shyly.
"Sit down, Harry, will you?" Harry walked over to a chair. Harry, with his small hands pulled out the chair. Remus had extended his arm to help Harry with
pulling out the chair.
"Why ask, sir?" Harry asked. Dumbledore who was getting some papers ready paused for a few seconds in shock, and then, a look of pensiveness came about
his face.
"Choices are important, and having the choice to do one's will is a thing worth having," Dumbledore explained gently. Harry felt intimidated by the speech
making and was frightened by the usage of the words, but dared not ask. He didn't want to get the old man upset. He sat there gazing at the old man in
utter amazement.
"Harry, I don't fear questions, only the worst of man does. Ask away my boy. I shall apologize for the lack of sense, I made to you in what surely was nonsense.
Now, I'll explain, but before that I shall inform you that you can call me Albus. I was trying to say that choosing what you want is good," Dumbledore
explained. Harry stared amazedly at the headmaster in silence. He was speechless because he seemed in such a way a kindly and gentle man. He didn’t want
to upset him.
Remus said firmly, "Harry, please, will you give us a few minutes? We need to talk over some very important things. We'll go down to breakfast after that."
Harry nodded and sat back. He stared at the table. Dumbledore picked up some papers.
"Well, Remus, I need you to sign this," Dumbledore prompted handing Remus the papers. Remus scanned over them, and taking up a quill he signed them.
Remus said, "Yes, thank you, Dumbledore. Shall I leave after breakfast?" Albus took back the paper, and tucked them into his pile. He stood up with ease.
"Oh, don't you want to stay? Perhaps Harry can have a swim. Its summer and no one is here, so it couldn’t hurt." Remus stood up looking uneasily at Dumbledore.
He walked over to Harry, but turned to Albus.
"No, Albus. I don't want to cause you trouble, we have already troubled you long enough," Remus explained. Dumbledore got to the door and held it open.
Harry walked out uncertainly.
Dumbledore said as he led the way down, "No, Remus it doesn't at all, why don't you stay?" Remus was following him quickly. Remus kept a close eye on
Harry. Harry followed obediently.
"Well, all right... Where are we going, Albus?" Dumbledore turned around and thought for a moment.
Albus said deciding, "Well, I was going to the kitchens while you and Harry can go to the Great Hall, but if Harry wants to come..." He looked at Harry
questioningly. Harry nodded and looked pleased. He never had the chance before and since he now had the chance to act on his own accord, he might just
as well. He looked questioningly at Lupin.
"Yes, go with Albus. I'll meet you in the great hall," Remus said heading towards the entrance of the great hall.
"Come with me, Harry," Albus said leading Harry down to the kitchens. Then, at last they reached it, and Dumbledore opened the door by tickling the fruit.
Harry gazed at it in shock. Dumbledore stepped in, and walked in hesitantly upon seeing the crowd of elves. Drawing out his wand, Dumbledore flicked it
and with a snap the door closed.
An elf croaked, "What will Master Dumbledore like?"
"Ah, Neil, please get us, some breakfast food. You know, perhaps some bacon and some assortment of things. Oh, and if you don't mind please send it up to
the Great Hall so it wouldn't be any trouble. I really don't want to be carrying it up myself, thank you! Come along Harry we shall go up promptly so the
food does not get cold." The house elves started to work hard and Harry stared at the tables longingly. Dumbledore opened the door, and led him out as
he stared back.
"Albus, the elves are bringing up food?" Harry asked. Albus led Harry back up to the ground floor and they headed towards the Great Hall.
"No, it will get sent up to the table. The magic of Hogwarts allows it." Harry gaped at the information as they enter the great hall. As they entered Remus
stood. He came over to them. Dumbledore made the tables fold up and glide over to the wall. There they landed, and they stood beside the wall. He then
made a small table appear for four. Drawing up chairs, he gestured for Harry and Remus to sit.
Harry asked as he pulled out his chair and sat, "Remus, do you live here?"
Dumbledore chuckled, and a ghost who was drifting past sniggered. Remus looked shocked as he picked up his knife and after taking Harry's plate started
to cut his sausages.
"Remus, I can cut it. I've cut loads before." Harry tried to grab his plate.
"Yes, I'm impressed, but I'll do it for now. Harry, don't worry about it. Why don't you sit back down?" Harry had stood up and tried to get the plate from
Remus, but with a reluctant sigh he sat back down looking upset.
"Well, no, I don't live here, but it would be pleasant, though. I wish I had the gold to buy such a magnificent place. This is Hogwarts, and is a boarding
school of magic. Albus here is the Headmaster," Lupin said hoping to distract Harry. Harry looked around observing the room.
Harry asked curiously, "Magic?" He was very confused, because he had a
Harry asked curiously, "Magic?" He was very confused, because he had always learnt that it was fake. Perhaps, this was a very spectacular joke after all.
"Yes, that's right, magic," Dumbledore said encouragingly. Harry looked at Dumbledore in disbelief. This very old man had to be joking with him.
Harry asked, "But... aren't... aren't magic only in stories?" he looked around. This was not a practical story's setting. He still wondered, however, if
an evil witch with poisons and a broomstick would jump out at him anytime soon. He was ready for either that or for the adults to declare that they were
just kidding after all.
"To people that don't understand, yes, that is true, but you are a wizard, and you belong in a place where magic is real. You were born into a magical family,
but they had to leave us forever, so you were placed in a situation away from it to keep you safe from some certain circumstances. People without magical
families can also belong in this world, and the ones who does tend to show some powers at a very young age. It has never been something some imaginative
man had just made up. This is real, spells really do work. You probably have experienced something that happened, and you couldn't possibly explain why
it did happen. That's your magical powers being triggered, and somehow without knowing it you caused it to happen. Look," Dumbledore said as if reading
Harry's mind. as he spoke he drew out his wand. He flicked it and an empty plate did some flips in the air, and took off flying in the air around the great
hall once. It landed noisely down at the table. During all this time, Harry stared in aw at this. He found that the man's words were not hard to believe,
and besides, he actually saw proof of it. There was no point to not believe.
Harry asked, "So you teach it?" Albus chuckled as he stuck his wand back into his robes.
"No, dear boy, I'm the headmaster of this boarding school. The name of this school is Hogwarts, and it's rather known in the wizarding world." Harry looked
around the room in aw for a full minute before he spoke again.
"Boarding school? I heard of them," Harry said excitedly. Dumbledore chuckled forking up some scrambled eggs.
"Yes, we have students, and teachers staying here for the most part of the year, and it's quite a busy place." Remus chewed on some bacon, and Harry scooted
closer to Albus. Remus placed the plate back in front of Harry.
Harry asked, "You live here?"
"Yes Harry, I certainly do," Dumbledore said. At that moment the door opened, and a elderly mistress stepped in. She closed the door behind her.
McGonagall stepped in, "Albus, I heard... Oh, is that Potter?" Albus looked amused. As the mistress came closer Harry cringed at the stern look.
"Ah, Minerva, yes, this is Harry. Harry, this is, ah... Minerva... I mean, McGonagall. She is a teacher here," Dumbledore said. He had to alter his words
because Minerva had given him a sharp look. Turning around, Harry offered Professor McGonagall a small hand. McGonagall looked at it and smiled.
"Hello Potter. Albus, you wouldn't mind me joining you?" Albus got up and drew up another chair.
"No, we'd be obliged if you joined us." As Minerva McGonagall sat, she thanked Albus.
Harry asked shyly, "You teach?"
"Yes Potter, I teach transfiguration," said McGonagall. Harry forked up some egg and ate.
"What's that, can you teach me?" he said excitedly looking ready to jump out of his seat.
Dumbledore said sharply, "No, you're still too young. When you turn eleven, you will come here as everyone else and start to learn. Meanwhile, I'm sure
Remus here can teach you more elementary things." Harry looked disappointedly around.
"Well, you won't be able to handle the powers 'at this age, anyways. It's very advanced, and at your age it's too much for you. The strain will be upon
you," Remus explained. Harry sat back frowning at Remus now.
McGonagall asked, "So he's going to live with you, Remus?" Remus nodded. McGonagall surveyed him.
She turned to Albus, "What does the ministry have to say about it. I don't think Bagnold and her especially irritating junior minister Fudge... Him being
so young and living under such circumstances. Harry's, ah, four. Is that..."
"I'll be five next week," Harry interrupted. Remus laid a hand on Harry's hand. Harry looked a bit upset, but quieted. Remus started to get up.
Albus said firmly, "Remus, it's fine, really. Yes, he'll be five in a week, but I don't see how Fudge can oppose it." McGonagall shook her head.
"I think the connection with me being that I know Lily and James might do us some good. It proves that I am a good enough guardian, especially, because
I know the father of Harry, so I know exactly his desires." Harry turned to Remus looking surprised.
He asked Remus, "You know my dad?"
"Yes. Yes, I do. We were really good friends," Remus explained. Harry scooted closer to Remus now.
Harry asked very hopefully, "Were they nice?"
Remus smiled, "They were very nice. I think I have a picture of James here."
He extracted a picture from his bag he had brought. Harry squealed and grabbed at it excitedly. Remus handed it over, smiling, and Harry looked at it. He
kissed it and hugged it.
He squealed "Dad!" He kissed it again.
He asked Lupin excitedly after kissing it, "Remus, can I have it? Can I? Can I? Please! Oh, please!" Remus put the bag on the table.
"Yes, but I'll have it back for now, so it doesn't get scratched. I'll give it to you at the house." However grudgingly, Harry handed it back, and he looked
sadly at Lupin.
Harry asked suddenly, "Albus, are there other teachers here?"
Dumbledore, as if reading Harry's mind, "Yes, there are. If you want you could see some of them." Harry looked more excited, and he ate a little faster.
"I daresay, Hagrid would like to see him," McGonagall said.
"Oh yes, he will, I'm sure," Dumbledore agreed.
"Why?" Harry asked curiously. Just then, the plates vanished. Harry stared at the places where they'd vanished.
"Where have they gone?" He asked quietly. Remus stood up, so did Dumbledore.
"They disappeared down into the kitchens where the elves deal with the cleaning," Dumbledore explained. Harry expressed his excitement, and stood up as
McGonagall did.
"Remus! Can we go to see the teachers? Remus, please, please! Please!" Harry said pulling on Remus's sleeve. Remus looked down at him with a bit of amusement.
"Yes, Harry. We'll be going around as soon as Albus is ready," With a quick sweep of his wand the four tables return to their original positions.
"I'm ready Remus. Come now, Harry," They exited the great hall,.
"So who are the teachers here, now? Slughorn is still the teacher of potions?" They were now standing right next to the entrance.
"Is that Potter? The famous hero…" a drawling voice came from the other side of the Great Hall's door. Harry dodged behind Remus.
"Afraid Potter?" the voice drawled again and the figure of Severus Snape came closer. Remus drew his wand quickly, and held it out.
"Hello, Severus. Please, refrain from cursing each other," Dumbledore said calmly. Remus stepped forward with a fierce look in his eyes.
"Going to land your self in Azkaban, Remus? You didn't manage to keep James, Sirius, and yourself out of detention," Snape was now sniggering at Remus and
coming towards him. Remus pointed his wand straight at Severus.
He hissed, "No, I'll darn jinx you! I thought you were part of those Death Eaters, what are you doing here?" Harry cowered close to Minerva who was farther
away.
"If you'll like to know, I teach here," Snape sneered. Remus stepped back in shock.
He almost dropped his wand, "What?"
Author's Note: Hey, so that's the end of it. Yes, it's kind of lame! If I happen to make Severus continue meeting Remus, this will have to become T rated.

Chapter Two: At Hogwarts
“Lupin, going to complain?" Snape said sneering. Snape drew closer.
"I... I...' I'll... I'll," Remus stuttered. Remus said holding his wand firmly again. Snape laughed.
"Lupin, that's all you do? Yes, very practical going around stuttering at me," Snape drawled, “Very useful Lupin.” Lupin got closer.
“Don't you dare! I'll blast you off your feet,” Remus said loudly. Snape sniggered appreciatively.
"Oh, yes, very good! Can you be more pathetic, Lupin? Threatening me, now eh? You really pose danger," he leered at him. McGonagall dragged Harry farther
away.
Lupin shouted, "No!" Snape raised an eyebrow.
Snape asked maliciously, "Oh, shouting now, eh? I didn't know shouting helps. When since did shouting, no, help you very much, Lupin? I would have to say
you'd end up the same way your friends did..."
Dumbledore interfered, "Please, I don't want you two to duel each other. We can't afford to loose both or one of you. Severus you better be off my dear
man." Severus glanced angrily at all of them and walked away. Remus walked over to Harry, put his wand away and picked Harry up. Harry was crying and he
clung tightly to Lupin.
"That was bad, I-I ... I don't like it," Remus followed Albus out of the castle and on to the grounds.
"I think Hagrid might do him some good Remus," Dumbledore suggested. The group progressed on. Harry was still crying into Remus's arms.
Harry said, "I am scared. He's mean! It's scary!"
"I didn't like it any better than you did, but he's just a bit overly vigorous," Lupin said as they advanced a bit farther from the castle.
Remus said suddenly, "Albus, I better take Harry back up to the Gryffindor tower for a while. He'll be better, if we go up to clean up and calm down a bit.
Do you mind meeting me here in half an hour?"
Dumbledore turned around and nodded. Remus turned around and headed back to the castle. Harry was looking back at the forest, hopefully.
"We'll be back, Harry. We're just going up for a bit." Harry wrapped his arms tighter around Lupin.
"I like running around outside," Harry said.
"Really..."
"Yes, it's fun. Well, it's better than the cupboard," Harry exclaimed. Remus grimaced and looked transfixed.
He exclaimed in a tone of surprise and horror, "What?" Harry looked up sadly and seemed scared by his exclamation.
"Yeah, they locked me in there a lot! I slept there too!" Lupin gasped in horror.
Lupin asked, "What! You lived in a cupboard, Harry?" Harry sat up a little more.
"Yeah, they said I was in the way. I just have it that bad..." Harry broke out in fresh sobs, and Remus held him closer. He really was shocked and wanted
to know more, but Harry being in this state obviously nothing could be gotten out of the child. He must remind himself that he was not wanting to upset
Harry and that he should be more careful as to the aim of their conversations.
"No, they definitely don't sound pleasant, but you'll never have to go through that again. You're never in my way, Harry." Harry looked up momentarily and
slump back down on Remus's shoulders.
"You’re like a dad to me. No one has ever been this nice to me. I just can love you loads!" Remus stopped and looked down at Harry.
"Thank you Harry. You are everything to me too." They entered the castle through the front doors.
"They did hurt me really badly, they were not nice. I wish I'd be with you forever. They only cared for Dudley, not me." Harry straightened up slightly.
Showing Lupin a bruise and a cut while he spoke on accident. As soon as he realized he pulled back. Lupin slowed, and examined it.
Remus said with a note of urgency, "My, god! Is their more, Harry?" Harry nodded hesitantly. Lupin picked up his pace as they got to the top of the marble
staircase.
He walked on a bit.
" It wasn’t nice. That one was from a tree. It was last week at Dudley's party. It was late, so he was mad…” At that point he couldn't say any more, because
he didn't really want to express more. He didn't want to appear weak and frail to a fatherly figure.
Lupin said, "Let's talk about something else. Harry, it's the past, let's think about happier things. How about your birthday? What would you like to do
Harry?" Remus was eager to change the topic. He blamed himself for bringing it up, and the boy was obviously trying to hold him self back from tears. Harry
looked up sadly.
"They don't celebrate my birthday at all. I don't even get presents. My life..." He looked sadly at Remus and he leaned on Remus again. He realized he'd
again said too much, or at least to the four years old appeared to have. He wasn't doing so well with proving himself.
"Harry, I'll make sure your life is good, don't worry about it. I'll see what I could put together." Harry looked into his eyes sadly.
"I know you can. I really like it here. It's better then there. Loads better. I cannot choose what I want there." They had reached the portrait.
"It's you two?" the fat lady asked. She swung open for them to enter. Lupin carried Harry on inside.
"My cousin, he's not too nice, but it's not the worse. He hits me and his friends do it to, but I think it could be worse. They don't like me."
"Well, they don't sound pleasing. Well, lets just stay clear of the topic," They had now ascended the stairs. Lupin turned into the room and put Harry on
the bed. Then, he sat on the floor beside Harry so he could have enough room.
"Here, clean up a bit," he handed Harry some tissues he had summoned. Harry did, and attempted to get up. Lupin summoned the rubbish bin.
"Here, throw it in there, so you don't need to get up," Remus said.
"Thanks," Harry said weakly. Remus summoned up a towel, and wet it with the aguamenti spell and gave it to Harry.
"Here, try wiping your face with this. I’m sure you'll feel better," Lupin said handing the towel to Harry. Harry wiped his tear stained face and Remus
flicked his wand so the blinds was shut. Harry handed back the towel. Remus waved his wand and it disappeared.
"Harry, will you please take off the cloak?" Remus knelt down and got his wand at the ready.
Harry said loudly, "No!" He scooted away a bit.
"Harry, I'm just trying to mend your cuts. Please, take off the cloak. I swear it's not going to be anything more," he said sternly. Harry looked upset,
but did as he was told. As Harry took off the pants Lupin noticed the one on his bottom.
"Very good, come here, Harry." Harry came towards Lupin. Lupin winced at how filthy Harry was.
"Harry we have time. Why don't you get in the bathroom and I'll help you with a bath? I'll clean your stuff," Lupin said. Harry went into the bathroom and
got in. Remus ran in after him and noticed that he needed help with the taps. Remus turned them. Harry screamed at the coldness of the water. Remus turned
on the warmer taps quickly.
"I like that, Remus," Harry said soaking in the water.
"Well, I'll be out there looking after your clothes, and I'll be back shortly. Why don't you have some fun for a while" he said. Harry was excited. Remus
took his robes and shrinked them. He cleaned out Harry's pants and his muggle clothes. He mended both the top and bottom. Harry ran out of the bathroom.
"Get back in there please," Lupin said. He bathed Harry as fast as he could and started washing out Harry's filthy Hair that undoubtedly no one cared to
help him with.
"Remus, I don't like it," he said softly. Remus kept on washing out his dirty hair.
"I'm sorry, but I'm sure you'll feel much clea
"I'm sorry, but I'm sure you'll feel much cleaner after I do this," Lupin said now summoning the soap for the sink, and put it on Harry's hair.
"You'll have to do with regular soap for the time being. I'll put in something more suitable when we get to the house," Lupin said. Lupin had soon finished
with Harry's hair, and now it looked decent.
As they got out Lupin asked, "Which one do you want to wear?" Remus pointed at the two sets of clothes laid out on the bed. Harry grabbed the robe, and
started to slip it on.
"Harry, don't put them on yet, please," Lupin said. Harry stared at him.
"Here, lay down, please," Harry went to the bed looking confused.
"Lay on your side Harry," Lupin said firmly. Harry turned on his side.
"What are you going to do?" Harry said softly.
"I'm going to heal these injuries. They look rather intensive," Lupin put down his wand and dried Harry.
"Will it hurt?" he asked. Lupin took up his wand, and got ready.
"No, it shouldn't hurt at all," he answered, "It's going to take about five minutes." Remus had searched and healed all the bruises.
Lupin asked straightening up, "You feel better, Harry?" He had his wand back in his pocket.
Harry asked, "Yes! Can I have this robe?" Remus looked at Harry for a moment.
"Well, I-I suppose so, but it really is pretty shabby." Harry slipped it on and fingered it.
"It's inside out," Lupin said. He took it off of Harry gently, flipped it right side out, and slipped it on Harry.
"No, it's very nice. I like it loads Remus." Remus smiled. He got to the door.
"Are you ready to go, Harry?" Lupin looked at Remus and nodded. Remus opened the door, and the pair stepped out.
Harry asked, "Remus, how old are you?" They descended the stairs, and then, walked on to the portrait hole.
"I'm twenty five, but Harry you should be cautious who you ask that to. It's not rude to me, but some like to keep it private." Remus pushed open the portrait
hole. Harry went out after him, and he doubled back to close it.
Harry asked, "Are they old like you and Dumbledore, and don't like to be asked, and they're so old?" Remus smiled at the repetitiveness of Harry's questions.
"Well, you wouldn't exactly call me old, Harry. I'm only about twenty years older than you." Harry saw the stairs coming, and focused on them.
"Harry, wait... don't come down, there's a trick step down here. I'll come get you. I don't want you to jump. It's too risky at your age." Harry took another
stepped down.
Harry shouted down the stairs, "I can jump Remus, I do it all the time!" He was attempting to go down another, but Remus lifted him up before he could.
"I know you really want to do things, and I know your aunt and uncle forced you to. However, some things... well, they just aren't for you to do at this
age," Remus explained. They descended a few more stairs. Then Remus jumped one, and Harry squealed in excitement. At the same time his eyes filled up with
tears.
He said, seeming ready to cry, "But Remus, I do a lot, and I'm big!" Remus had to keep himself from bursting out in great shouts of laughter at Harry's
remark.
"Harry, I know you are growing, we all do, and it seems as if it is a huge step when you're young, but you still need a lot of help. You still need a lot
of learning, Harry. It's not something you need to get upset over. Look, its Dumbledore," Remus said, and as they descended the marble stairs into the
entrance hall Remus pointed to Albus. He held Harry closer.
"Dumbledore, I heard that." Harry was struggling to get down, so Remus set him on his feet.
"Yes, that's his surname." They were now approaching Dumbledore.
"What's yours," Harry said as they reached Dumbledore.
"My full name is Remus John Lupin, thus, it's Lupin." Dumbledore opened the door smiling at Harry and they exited.
"Hello, Harry. I'm glad you're feeling better," he said. Harry, however, was too busy talking to Remus to pay any attention to him.
"Remus, what's John, then?" Lupin now walking by his side, but a little more so in front of him.
"Oh, that's my middle name," He said as they walked away from the doors.
"I have one?" he asked very excitedly. Lupin smiled at him. They were now drawing nearer to the hut as they were walking swifter this time.
"You haven't, heard it yet? Yes, you do. It's James," Remus told him. He looked excited and walked a bit faster in his excitement.
Harry asked, "Isn't that my dad's name?" Remus smiled at Harry as Dumbledore knocked on Hagrid's Hut.
"Very good, Harry. Yes, yes indeed, it is." The door cracked open. Hagrid ran out and embraced Harry.
"Er, come in. Jus been a busy day, eh? Come o' inside he said holding open the door. After the embrace Harry shrank frightfully behind Remus and he remained
there. Remus picked him up, and walked into the hut. He held Harry close.
"e's cute," Hagrid announced eying over as he approached Remus and Harry. Harry shrinked lower and closer to Remus.
"Harry, he's decent, but he's just big. I swear, he's friendly, and as I am holding you in my arms, it'll be fine. You'll be safe." Hagrid backed up a bit
seeing that Harry was about to cry.
"aw, 'e' so cute, he, he... I am not going ter hurt you, Harry." Harry had buried his face into Remus's shoulder and he started to cry silently.
"Remus, I'll explain to Hagrid. Would you step out of the hut for a moment?" Lupin stepped out with Harry who calmed down a bit. Lupin summoned more tissues
and gave them to Harry. Harry wiped his face and Lupin helped him clean up a bit and Lupin disposed of the trash.
"I know he seems scary, but give him a chance," Lupin said as he sat with Harry on the porch of the hut.
Harry asked, "Are all the teachers, here like that?" Lupin drew out a chocolate frog.
"No, and he's not a teacher. He's the groundskeeper… Well, except for one teacher, but he's half my size and he teaches... well... I don't really know,
he used to do transfiguration, but McGonagall does it now," Remus drew out more chocolate frogs. He gave Harry a few.
"What are these, Lupin?" he opened one, and he dropped it when it croaked. Remus, however caught it before it hit the ground.
"It's a chocolate frog, eat. You'll feel better. Here, there's a card," Lupin said taking the wrapper and pulling out the card. Harry ate greedily, and
Lupin smiled at him.
"Oh, you'll recognize him," Lupin said as he gave the card to Harry. Harry gazed at it and hugged it.
"It's Albus! What's that?" He asked pointing at the printed name. Remus looked at where Harry was pointing to.
"That's Albus's name, and it's printed out-”
Harry said suddenly putting his arm around Remus, "I love you, Remus!"

Author's Note: The end of this chapter will be a bit sudden and may be a bit hard to read. It might be painful, so I want to caution you readers in advance.
No, not all grammar is right in here, and that is to be expected. Yes, I mean the dialogue. After all, you can't expect a four years old who's been abuse
to know grammar fully. I don't mean broken sentences. Of course, he can at least talk in well sensible sentences, but here and there will be a mistaken
word.
Chapter Three: The Wild Luncheon
After a hour or so of going around, Harry and Remus settled in the tower room. Harry was now relaxing on Remus's lap. Remus had read a few short stories
from a book he had borrowed from the school library.
"Remus, read it again, please? I like it," Harry said. Remus shuffled through the pages and reread the story he had just read.
"I wish I can read that Remus. It's boring, but fun," he said looking longingly at the book. He took the book from Remus and looked through it.
Remus offered, "You can, Harry, I was going to teach you, but I wasn't going to start until at least tomorrow." Harry handed the book back. Remus took it
and placed it on the table.
He suggested, "If you want, I could get some parchment, and we could go down, now?" Harry got off Remus, but hesitated. Remus took out a roll of parchment.
Harry nodded. Remus grabbed a small bottle of ink and they proceeded down stairs. They sat down and Lupin got the parchment ready.
He asked sitting down next to Harry, "Tell me Harry, how far can you go with counting?" Harry thought for a moment.
"I can count pretty far, maybe fifty? Then it's... it's hard," he said. Lupin thought for a moment.
Lupin asked, "How far in the alphabet are you Harry?" Harry shifted in his seat a bit.
"I can say the whole thing. A-B-C-D-E-H-G-H-I-J-K-L-N-M-O-P-Q-R-S-T... ah...-W. I forgot the rest," Harry said. Remus smiled at Harry.
"Very good. You almost have it. I didn't expect you to know it all yet. I mean, with so little attention everyone seems to pay to you. Yet... you seem to
tag along... You can't go too hard on yourself. You are hardly five, and with the teacher not teaching you that well... you've achieve quite a bit," Remus
said encouragingly. He spread out a bit of the parchment.
"I can tell as what today is," Harry declared. Lupin looked at him questioningly.
"What's today, then?"
Harry said excitedly, "It's Tuesday today!" Lupin took out his calendar he carried about in his robes.
"That was yesterday, Harry," Remus said. Harry smiled at him.
Harry said practically squirming, "It's Wednesday! Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday!" Lupin smiled at him and tucked the calendar
back in his pocket.
"Very good Harry, yes that's correct," Lupin said complimentarily, "Should we start?" Harry looked excited and decided. Lupin handed him a quill and he
took another out of his pocket.
"Copy this," He said writing out an a. Harry was about to put his quill in the bottle to soak up some ink, but he knocked it over instead. Lupin took out
his wand, and waved it for the ink to disappear. The robes were now filthy, and he tried to mob it up with his sleeves. Remus pulled his arm away.
"Harry, no, just wait for me to clean it. You're just smearing it everywhere," Remus explained while holding Harry's arm back. He pulled out his wand and
tapped it. Then Remus cleaned the Robes.
"Here, let's try again, shall we?" Remus ran up with Harry again and grabbed another bottle. They ran down again, and Remus settled Harry on the chair again.
"Here, here," Remus said setting the bottles down. He took off the cap and held the bottle. Harry carefully dipped his quill in it and brought it out. He
started to copy out the “A” that Remus had carefully redone.
Harry exclaimed, "I have it, I have it!" Remus looked carefully at the “A”.
"Very good, yes, try writing a few more, and try to look less every time." Harry worked hard copying “A”s, and then “B”s. Remus kept looking up at the clock
a few times. He certainly didn't want to be late for the luncheon with some of the staff. McGonagall and
Dumbledore had made sure that neither Severus nor Hagrid would show up at the Luncheon. A time passed and it was finally eleven forty-five. Remus capped
the bottle.
"Harry, very good, you did very well, but we shall go now. If we don't we'll be late for the luncheon," said Remus. Harry bent over trying to collect the
things.
"Harry, I'll get these things. I'll clean your shirt again. If you will just straighten up there. Yes, very good, thank you," Remus said as he got his wand
out and cleaned the robe that now was somewhat ink stained.
"Harry, why don't you sit on that chair over there, and I'll ah... just clean this up." He said. Harry nodded and walked over to the chairs Remus had pointed
to by the fire.
"Harry, move over one please. We can do without a burnt hand," he said as Harry scooted over one. Remus collected their things.
"I'll carry that up," Harry said going over to Remus getting impatient. Remus smiled and handed Harry the bottle.
"You can carry that up. We'll go up there now, so I can put them away," He and Harry went towards the stair and they both ascended. As they entered, Remus
took the bottle from Harry. He went over to his bed and put the things away.
"Thank you," Harry said. Remus straightened up.
"You're welcome, Harry. Well, ah... yes, lets go then," he said opening the door.
Harry asked seemingly in a rush, "Where are we eating? Who's there? What'll it be like? Is it going to be fun? Will there be new teachers? There won't be
Hagrid or Snape, will there? Will Albus be there? We're going now?" Remus laughed at the many questions Harry had.
"Harry, one at a time please. I can't answer them all if you ask them of me all at once. Well, I don't even remember half of them," he said gently looking
into Harry's anxious and frightened face, "It'll be fine Harry, Don't worry. They've, ah, fixed it all up." As they descended the marble stairs Harry was
shrinking back and walking rather slowly. Remus picked him up and held him gently.
"Harry, there's no one too frightening there. No Hagrid or Snape. I made sure of that. I know that they invited Madam Pomfrey, the school nurse, here,"
Harry clutched more tightly now to Remus's arms as they made their way inside.
"I... I," Harry said, but could say no more. Upon seeing so many people Harry clung even tighter to Remus.
"It's all right Harry. Look, aren't the decorations nice?" They drew closer to the table. Remus placed Harry on a chair and then sat beside him.
Sybil Trelawney said in her misty voice, "My inner eyes had seen this day come, and it's very nice to see you in the real world. Perhaps coming up to my
room after lunch and I'll make a predict..." McGonagall glared at Trelawney and she looked rather annoyed.
"That'll do, Sybil. You sure have seen this boy's state of mind and you would not have said anything at all," McGonagall interrupted sharply, "And the last
thing Harry need is for you to try and scare him." Sybil looked quite offended, but before she could interject any replies at all some one spoke.
"Ah, Harry, I'm sorry. Yes, I had some others who you haven't met this morning come down for lunch, so they're joining us. I have also invited families
to dine with us tonight, and I think you'll find it pretty interesting. They both have children your age. I sure you remember Augusta, Remus." Remus directed
his gaze at Dumbledore, and thought for a moment.
"Yes... Yes, I remember her very well," Remus said recalling the name.
Dumbledore said, "Well, she'll be bringing Neville, Frank and Alice's son. Well, Harry shall I introduce you to the new comers?" Harry nodded, got up, and
shyly walked to Dumbledore.
Dumbledore explained, "The one who spoke when you first came is Professor Sybil Trelawney, and she is the teacher of divination. This next to McGonagall
is Madam Poppy Pomfrey, and she's the nurse. Next to Filius there is Madam Rolanda Hooch, who is the flying instructor. Next to her is Professor Aurora
Sinistra who's the teacher of Astronomy. On my right here, this is Madam Irma Pince the librarian. Next to Remus is Professor Septima Vector who's the
teacher of Arithmancy. There's more staff, I'm afraid, who are not here currently." The teachers nodded, waved, or did some gesture of acknowledgement
as they were mentioned.
"Why don't you go back to where you were sitting Harry," Dumbledore suggested. Harry walked back to his seat and sat down beside Remus.
"You are skin and bones potter, you need food badly. Remus make sure you feed him well," Madam Pomfrey said over her glasses. Everyone's attention turned
to Harry.
"Yes, of course, I was just thinking about it. He didn't eat too much breakfast this morning, I wasn't sure if he had woken up completely yet or not, so
“I didn't bother trying," Remus said. Harry got up. He walked around the table and circled around Remus. He approached Flitwick.
Harry asked, "Filius, can you do the birds again?" Flitwick pulled out his wand.
"Yes, the incantation again." He did the charm, and a canary flew out of it. Flitwick made it sore around and Harry with a great show of energy chased it
around.
"Here, Remus, I think Harry would enjoy these," McGonagall said handing Remus a box and a bag. Remus glanced into the bag, and upon seeing ginger newts,
he nodded. He also read the label upon the box and that contained Every Flavor beans.
"Yes, he'll enjoy these, I'm sure," Remus said to McGonagall. Flitwick handed over a box with the words Ice Mice printed in big letters on the top. Remus
took it and thanked the professor.
"Yes, he'll be liking those. I don't know much people that don't," Flitwick commented. Dumbledore pulled out a few boxes. He handed them over. Remus took
them and looked at it.
"This box of nut brittle is from Hagrid. He also wanted Harry to have this note. This is from Severus, he wants Harry to have this box of sugar quills.
Now, alas, I think this is the most unique present Harry will have. Its lemon drops." McGonagall groaned, and shoot Dumbledore a furtive glare. Everyone,
especially McGonagall, glared at Dumbledore's full heartiness. They all handed around their presents. Harry had gotten an assortment of sweets. After a
decent ten minutes, food appeared.
Remus said, "Harry, that’s enough for now. Come here to the table, please?" The canary disappeared, and Harry ran over.
"But... Remus. I want to play," Harry said. Harry sat down slowly. Remus had gotten some steak and was now cutting it up.
"No, Harry let's wait till after lunch. You can chase that bird some more then. Here, I've cut up some steak for you. It'll be a minute." He said neatly
cutting off a piece. He cut up some more steak. He piled some potatoes, beans, green beans, broccoli, and other things on to Harry's plate.
"It was fun!" He added on some sauce. He placed it in front of Harry.
"Here, eat. You'll need it. It's good for you. Yes, I'm sure you’ve been having fun," Remus said. Harry spotted the stack of sweets. He looked at it excitedly.
"Is that candy?" Harry squealed looking around. Remus started to eat some of the delicious stake and swallowed before attempting an answer.
Remus informed him, "Yes, it is. They're for you." Harry squealed in joy eying the sweets.
"Really? I never had sweets ever before. My uncle and aunt said I didn't deserve it," he said very excitedly.
"Of course you deserve it Harry, very much so. Yes they are yours, but I want you to eat your proper meal first. Oh, Hagrid wanted you to have this note.
Here, I'll read it." Harry stared in to his plate and Remus read it aloud.
"Remus," Dumbledore called from across the table.
"Yes, Albus," Remus said.
"Well, the Weasleys will be here by three, so you'll meet me then," he informed Remus.
Remus asked, "Do you not think it unwise?"
"No, not at all. We'll just need to take certain precautions," said Dumbledore. Harry ate some of the food and then pushed his plate away. Remus surveyed
the still half way full dish.
"Harry, you need to eat more," Remus said gently. Harry frowned and pushed it farther away.
"You need it. I don't like to eat all the food. Don't you need some?" Harry persisted. Lupin looked into Harry's green eyes.
"Harry, we've have plenty to eat. Really, you don't need to spare any. I have enough for myself and besides the elves can send more, if that is necessary.
Eat; you need some more decent weight," he said seeming humored. Harry unwillingly ate a bit more. There was a few things left, but Harry got up.
"I'm finished," he said. Harry pushed his plate away. Remus sighed and took the plate up putting it aside. Harry got up and again asked Flitwick to produce
another canary. He chased it for a few minutes and finally got it. The bird struggled in his hands, but he resisted it for a second and let it go again.
He chased the bird round. A while later Harry almost collided with the table, but Minerva caught him.
She warned him sternly as he took off once more, "Careful Potter, you don't want to hurt yourself.” They were now all done, and most of them were watching
Harry run around.
"I am glad he's not with them. He was telling me earlier, and they sound really awful. He looks like he's having fun here." After fifteen more minutes,
Harry seemed really out of breath, and after five more he moodily walk back to Remus swiping the energetic bird away. He sat down, and Remus made it disappear.
Well, I think we'll go up now, Harry looks worn out, so I think he'll do with some rest." He picked the very tired looking Harry up in his arms, and exited
the hall. After getting up to the tower he tucked Harry in and selected a new story, but before he could even start Harry had drifted off into deep sleep.
Remus was now doubting his position, and decided to go to the Headmaster to have a discussion. He had thought about it for a while and he had pretty much
decided. He was pretty angry at his first reaction. He wasn't convinced that he did the right thing. He had reached the office door and knocked.
Dumbledore's calm voice came from within, "Enter." Remus opened the door, and he walked inside.
"Dumbledore, I am not sure about keeping Harry as to raising him... Well, I'll be making him an outcast. I don't like it, and I think he'll be happier away
from me!" Remus ended quite hotly.
"Remus, you aren't making any sense. Please cool down, and rethink. Harry's happier then he's been for a few years and he's very grateful that he's here
with you," Albus quite calmly consulted Remus. Remus pulled out his wand, and looked ready to curse him anytime now. Dumbledore didn't draw his wand.
"You, do, not, get it!" Remus roared getting extremely angry, "Everyone would laugh at him, and I... I don't want... that!" Dumbledore sat there still not
reacting.
"Remus, and have you thought about how sad he'd be to see you leave? How perhaps, he'd think of James and Lily, then? You are the closest to a father he's
got with Sirius in prison," Dumbledore said sharply raising his eyebrows. Remus got closer, and he was now livid.
Remus now roared at Dumbledore, "You don't... you... you can't... you really don't know... you really haven't got a clue!"
"Remus, I must insist, calm down and stick to the boy. Why don't you go back to where he is. He must be frightened that you're not there," Dumbledore said
with a note of finality. Remus got close to the door and

Chapter Four: The Dinner
Remus had of course thought of the matter, and realized it was rash. He had decided Albus was right and he needed to stick with Harry. Remus woke Harry
at three and together they walked to Albus's office.
"Ah yes, the Weasleys should be at the front by now," Dumbledore said standing up. Harry, who had just woken up, was still gloomy, and was silent in Remus's
arms.
Albus said going out presently, "Well, I’ll bring them up here. Remus, I hope you have changed your mind?" Remus nodded. Lupin put Harry in a chair next
to him and sat beside him. A few minutes later, the Weasleys arrived up at the room. Molly was holding Ginny and Ron was running excitedly behind Dumbledore.
"Remus this is Molly Weasley and Molly this is Remus Lupin," Dumbledore said as Molly entered.
Remus said, "Hello, how do you do?" Molly got closer.
"Fine, you?" Remus stood up.
"Yes I'm doing well, Thank you. Delighted to meet you," said Lupin.
Molly shook his hand smiling.
"Yes, same here," said Molly while the hand shake.
"Harry, this is Ron and Ron, this is Harry," said Dumbledore. Harry and Ron started running around and playing. Dumbledore had of course made an effort
of telling the Weasleys and Longbottoms to not give subtle indications of too much recognition of the name and of course, he did explain the circumstances.
Therefore matters were settled.
Soon after, Ron asked, "Can we go outside?" Dumbledore inclined his head and as they went out, Remus trailed behind the two boys, who was talking excitedly.
Dumbledore had given Remus the money after some compensation. Remus turned to Albus.
"Albus, I can't stay now. If Harry's going to settle in, I got to fix up the house. If you can hold off dinner until six. I'll be back in time," Remus
said rapidly as they went down the stairs and through the gargoyles.
Ron said excitedly turning to Albus, "Can we go fly?" Dumbledore thought for a moment.
"Perhaps, at a later date, but not today. I'm afraid some of us are less ready." They had reached the front. The group was joined by Augusta and Neville.
Neville, who joined Ron and Harry, who was being bugged by Ginny who wanted to join them.
"Well, see you later," Remus said bending down to embrace Harry. Harry looked sadly up at Remus.
"I'll be back, Harry. I'll just fix up a few things, so. Well, enjoy the company Harry," Remus said. Remus exited the entrance hall, and the group did
so too shortly afterwards.
"Mate, I'll race you there," Ron said excitedly. Ron pointed at one of the Quidditch goal posts. Harry looked hesitant.
"Well, fine," Harry said starting out in a jog. They were now both running. Harry reached it slightly before Ron touched the goal post.
Ron shouted, "You cheated! It wasn't fair!" Harry looked shaken.
"N-no, I didn't. Let's run to that one," said Harry now a little flustered. Ron beat him this time.
"Well, ha! I won." For a while they ran back and forth. McGonagall joined the adults. One of the other teachers joined the group and stood beside McGonagall.
"Hello Mrs. Weasley," McGonagall said directing her gaze to Molly.
She asked, "Hello, Minerva, how are things around here?" Meanwhile, Ron and Harry had now gotten bored with running from goal post to goal post.
Ron suggested, "Let's run to that tree." They started off. Ron first beating Harry, then Harry caught up, then Ron accelerated a bit, and so did Harry.
McGonagall seeing them run towards the Whomping willow shouted, "Potter, Weasley! Come back here." The two boys stared at her. Ron wanted to run on, but
Harry insisted that they heed McGonagall's words.
McGonagall came towards them as they came towards her.
"You two are going too far, and that tree is very dangerous. If you get close, there, you will be getting very severe injuries," McGonagall lectured.
They were lead back to the group.
"Ah, Harry, I want you to meet someone. The Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher. This is Venus Stewarts." Venus smiled pleasantly at Harry.
"Joining us for dinner, Venus?" Dumbledore asked as the two started running around the crowd of people. Fred and George was whispering, and Ginny was tailing
the two.
"Yes, of course," said Venus. It was a while before they got bored of running in circles, but they finally did.
"Well, how about tag? It's this muggle game, I see my cousin playing it," Harry interjected. Ron looked at him.
"Did you play it?" Ron asked. Harry looked down at the ground sadly.
"Well, ah, my cousin won't let me play," he said quietly. Ron looked at him in wonder.
Ron asked, "Why?" Harry shook his head.
"Well, when I run you have to come and catch me. Then you run. I'll come after you and touch you," Harry explained. Ron looked at him carefully.
"It's not fun," Ron said. He walked away, and Harry followed.
"Where to, Ron?" Harry asked. They were getting quite close to the Black Lake now. They were running fast, and suddenly they were stopped.
"Potter, Weasley! You two are going too far again. You two need to come nearer." Ron's face fell. Sudden laughter behind McGonagall made her jump.
"Weasley and Weasley! I daresay that was a nice trick, but it was quite unnecessary," she said sternly looking at both Fred and George. The twins was now
doubled up with safety pins in their hands. Minerva McGonagall now took them all back to the place where the group were still gathered. Neville had been
shyly hanging about the adults all this time. It was nearly six thirty when Remus finally appeared.
"Hello, I'm sorry, it took a bit longer than I thought it would," he explained. Harry jogged up to him, and quite oddly embraced him. He had never embraced
anyone before, but he decided Remus was a good person to do it to. His aunt and uncle discouraged him to be affectionate towards them or to anyone else
in that sense. Harry thought it was quite unfair, since Dudley could kiss and embrace, while he only was allowed to work. He did complain, but every
time that was the case they'd beat him.
"You're back," Harry said excitedly, "I don't know if you were gone and if you were not coming again." Harry said standing beside Ron. Ron had been forgotten.
Ron didn't matter now. He had gotten the attention he wanted. He didn't think Remus would be back, since his uncle didn't. Harry looked down his eyes
filling up with tears at the memory of his uncle.
"I wouldn't do that, Harry. I just prepared things back at the house, so you could return with me tonight," Remus explained. Harry hugged him again, and
this time in more solemn a fashion.
Harry asked, "Prepared?" Remus nodded.
"Yes, I set up your room, and did a bit of cleaning." Remus's house was not exactly messy, but it was not what you called child friendly either. Anyone
under ten would definitely not survive in it without a few bruises. Hence, he had committed himself to the idea that Harry was to be safeguarded and kept
away from danger. So, he made it better. He had also framed a few pictures for Harry. He set up a few things in Harry's room so the boy would be content
enough. Ron had now come up.
"Harry," Ron said tugging on Harry's arm. Remus stepped back a little to give them a bit of room to themselves.
"Well, we'll be going in shortly, why don't you two tend to your play a little more," Remus said turning to Albus.
Remus asked, "So are we ready to go in?" Dumbledore nodded. The elves were going t
Remus asked, "So are we ready to go in?" Dumbledore nodded. The elves were going to put the dishes up at six forty five, so it was about that time.
"Yes, the elves will send up plates soon," Albus replied. All the children were gathered up and were prepared to go in.
"You two, please. You can keep on your playing in the great hall, but for heavens sakes, we're trying to get there first. I really would hate to see you
getting hurt," Venus told the twins. She now turned back to Minerva. They got inside. The children were at one end, and the adults the other. Remus
offered to sit closer to the children to keep an eye on them. A little into the meal Fred and George who had been whispering got up slowly with cups of
pumpkin juice. They got close to Harry, Ron, Neville, and Ginny. Molly seeing the twins got up having had her eyes on both.
She said sternly, "No Fred! No George! Sit back down! You won't be getting anyone wet!" Fred and George was so shocked that they spilt over half of their
cups on themselves and on the ground. Fred was laughing so hard that he dropped his cup, which shattered, and the juice rapidly spread in all directions
forming a big shallow puddle.
George dropped his cup deliberately and the puddle got bigger with even more broken glass. The two boys found it fun to splash in and did so.
"You two, Fred, George! You shouldn't splash in that puddle you could get sick. You're already completely wet," Lupin said kindly. He stood up and dragged
the boys out of the shallow puddle. He fished out his wand and dried off both of the boys’ clothes.
He turned to the Weasley parents and suggested, "Their clothes need a desperate cleaning that shall not be done when the boys are wearing it. You might
do with cleaning it later..." Arthur who had arrived a few minutes after dinner had started nodded. Arthur surveyed the boys.
"Yes, that is definitely the case," Arthur said now turning to the twins, "I thought you two knew better then to play in such a fashion." Fred and George
went to their seats sniggering behind their hands all the while.
"Now, what's so funny?" Molly questioned them. The twins' sniggers were turning in to laughter.
"The thought of them wet," Fred said still laughing. Molly glared at the boys.
"No, it wouldn't be funny, boys," said Arthur. Shortly after that, Remus turned his attention partly to the Weasleys.
Remus asked, "So what do you do?" Arthur ate some of his delicious stake and sipped at his mead.
"I work at the Ministry. I am in the Misuse Of The Muggle Artifact Office. How about you?" He asked. Remus blushed and looked embarrass down at the floor.
"Ah, I don't work. There's some factor's in the way. The ministry and Albus supplies me with efficient enough gold," Remus explained. Since Remus was
a Werewolf, it was not in his power to work. Especially now, because Harry was staying with Remus, Dumbledore was offering more money to the werewolf.
"Ah, right..." Arthur said. They had a good time chatting and laughing. Almost at the end of the dinner Harry who was reaching for his cup knocked over
Ron's cup. Ron was angry. Harry was trying to wipe it up.
Ron shouted, "You dumb poophead!" He knocked Harry cleanly off his chair who tumbled backwards, but landed on his hands and feet neatly. He approached
Remus who picked up the frightened sobbing Harry. Ron comes towards Harry looking ready to strike. Mrs. Weasley pulled ron aside to lecture him sternly
for a minute.
Remus exclaimed, "Ron!" He ran over to Albus quickly and handed the sobbing Harry to Albus.
Ron shouted repeatedly, "He knocked over my juice! He knocked over my juice! He knocked over my juice!" Remus picked him up, and went out of the hall comforting
him.
"Ron, it's just a cup of juice," Remus said carrying Ron down to the dungeons.
Ron shouted, "He's Nuts! He's... he's!" Remus had turned a corner, and walked to the kitchens.
"I'll get you another cup," He said. He pushed open the door, and asked the elves for a large cup of pumpkin juice.
"I'm getting you another cup." The elf brought a glass that was twice the size of a normal cup with a handle. Remus gave it to Ron who drank greedily.
Remus helped by supporting the bottom of it. Ron drained the cup in about seven minutes.
"Feeling better Ron?" Remus said trying to cheer him up. Ron gave the cup over to Remus.
"Loads. Can I come tomorrow and play?" he said now calmly. Remus handed back the cup exiting the kitchens. He went up the stairs to the entrance hall.
"Why not?" he answered as they ascended some stairs.
Twenty minutes later upon the return of Ron and Remus, Harry ran up to them. The table was clean. Ron ran towards Harry with excitement.
Remus smiled and joined the adults. It was nearly eleven before the party was over.
"We'll flu to my house," he said as he led Harry out of the great hall with the rest of the group. Everyone was tired and worn out. They walked down a
corridor and Dumbledore said the password to his gargoyles. They opened up, and they went up. Neville and Augusta was last in coming.
"The flu network is a network through the fireplaces. Molly, how about eleven?" Remus asked. Dumbledore opened up his office door, and they all stepped
in. Molly nodded, and beckoned her children towards her.
"Remus, you should go before us, Harry looks as if he'll collapse,"
Molly said sympathetically after the Longbottoms had gone. Remus backed away shaking his head.
"No Molly, you go first, especially with all these children of yours it's going to be quite a handful. I can help if you'd like," Remus said courteously.
Molly sighed, and reluctantly got closer to the fire upon seeing Remus's resistant look. The Weasleys disappeared mostly in pairs. Once charlie came
back to help another of his siblings along, but soon they were all gone.

Chapter Five: Discussion
"All right, it's over, Harry. Well, it's quite late, and I think it's your bedtime." It was twenty minutes later and they were now in Remus's small house.
Remus took Harry into the bathroom and cleaned him up.
"You're a mess from the juice and the flu, Harry. You really need a bath," Remus said helping Harry get into the tub. Remus washed him off and nodded in
satisfaction.
"Yes, this will have to do until morning. Come now, Harry," Remus said about ten minutes later helping Harry out of the tub and on his feet. Remus wiped
him off, and dressed him in a new set of robes he had summoned. They exited and Remus directed Harry to his room.
"This house is small," Harry commented. Harry was now looking around excitedly for he caught sight of the picture of his parents.
Remus said, "Yes, it is small, but I think it'll do. Look, I framed several pictures for you. This is..." Remus had changed to the subject to distract the
boy, because he had no intention to upset him. Sirius had a decent side house which was definitely smaller then Privet Drive, but one that manage a few
small rooms. It was not incredibly small, but not exact what you'd call big. Alfred Black had been one man, and so was Sirius. As grown men they had to
have some space, but not as much as children need to play in. Remus had done his best to clean it up, and enlarged it. He made sure it would not cause
too much attention to neighbors. Harry, however, was not listening.
Harry asked interrupting Lupin, "Well, you're poor? My uncle said poor people are not good and they can't manage." Remus looked offended for a moment, and
then, thinking it over looked more pleasant. He had realize that Harry was only a child and probably not known any better. He walked over to the bed.
"Come, Harry," Lupin said kindly. Harry turn around and looked at Lupin with a piercing look as if scolding him. He was upset because for some reason that
Harry had not grasped Remus would not for some reason answer him.
He asked loudly, "Are you going to answer?" Remus looked sternly at Harry and sunk onto the bed. He groaned quietly.
"Yes, I will, Harry, but I was going to make us comfortable first," he explained. He scooted inward on the bed and put his back to the wall. Harry stared
at him not knowing what to do. Slowly, he came and sat down beside Remus.
"So are you answering?" Remus grimaced and placed a hand on Harry's shoulder. Harry looked into Remus's eyes.
"Harry, yes, I will now," he said as Harry looked at him for an answer, "Being poor doesn’t mean that they are bad at all, Harry. We'll manage, here." Harry
looked at the shelves around him. The room was small and cramped. He got up and looked up around him.
Harry asked curiously, "How... how do you manage?" Remus looked at Harry getting up nervously not willing to upset the boy too much and started to arrange
things. He re-arrange the pictures again and again.
"We'll manage," Remus said absently. He paced around the room, now looking pensively. Harry was sat up some more. He looked angry.
He said angrily, "You still haven't answered!" Remus winced, and walked over to Harry. He grimaced and stood beside Harry.
Remus tried, "Harry, it's way too late to talk..." Remus said as he sat down. Harry looked tearful now.
"But, I want the answer! I thought you were nice?" Remus picked Harry up and held him tightly on his lap. He scooted in the bed a little.
"Well, it's Fudge and Dumbledore. Now, why don't you lay down." Remus said comforting Harry, and lay him down on the bed. Remus now sat on the floor beside
him.
He asked, "Yes, but how much do you get?" He sat up looking at Remus. He sat up completely and turned toward Remus. He put his feet at the edge of the bed
and leaned against the wall.
"Well... about a thousand galleons from Albus and about five hundred from Fudge," he explained hesitantly. Seeing Harry insisting to sit up and Remus saw
no point in trying to persuade him to lay back down. He stood up, and sat back down on the bed.
Harry said, "Not a lot!" He scooted closer to Remus. Remus stretched his legs.
"No, but if we are careful and count it out right, then it'll be fine. I don't intend to spend it carelessly," Remus explained.
Harry asked, "You have to save?" He got closer to Remus. Harry scooted forward so his feet were dangling off the bed.
"Yes, Harry, and I, well can't quite bring myself up to admitting, but since we're on the subject," Harry hopped up to stand right in front of Remus. He
really wanted to know.
Harry asked, "What?" He paced in front of Remus.
"I really... c-can't spend a whole lot on shopping and things. I'll see what I can get you, though. I'll try my best whenever we go," Remus explained. Harry
walked over to the pictures, and looked longingly at his father. He wished he was there at that very moment.
"Me have things? I never had anything," he expressed. Harry walk back toward him really looking at Remus seeming amazed. He stood right next to Remus.
"Well, you'll have some soon. Try this, Harry," Remus got up and
Harry sat down. He walked over to the wall, and grabbed up a picture.
He showed it to Harry.
Harry exclaimed, "WOW! Is t... is that me!" Remus smiled and walked across to the bed. He sat down and handed over the picture. Harry took a good look at
it.
"Yes, Harry it is. It was taken before your parents... er... left us," Remus said very emotionally. His speech was very broken up, and he had tears in his
eye. Harry wrapped his arms around Remus.
"Why do you have it now?" Harry asked. Remus wiped his face dry with his sleeve. Remus now look at Harry.
"Well, James sent me this. Look, he wrote something on it," Remus said. Harry had given him the picture. Remus flipped it over and point to the writing.
Harry exclaimed, "Oh! Wow! It's nice!" Remus smiled as Harry was almost jumping with joy at seeing the print. He took it and stared at it. Remus scooted
over, and read the message to himself. It felt good to read his long gone friend's writing.
"It very fine print. Your dad wrote rather handsomely," Remus commented. Harry looked up from the picture for a slight second. Then he looked back down
with a sigh, and started to trace the printed line with his fingers.
"Really?" Harry asked. Remus looked at Harry smilingly. Harry looked almost like his father. That was slightly comforting to him, and it was as good as
sitting next to James again.
"I always love his word. They were so nice and warm to read especially with praising you," said remus. He started to recall the marauding day with the four
of them running around. The experiences roaming and sneaking around the ground of the castle on moonlit nights was very memorable. It was not to be forgotten.
He was shortly brought out of his thoughts by Harry.
He asked excitedly, "What does it say?" Harry gave or rather threw the picture back at Remus who caught and then turned it around. He started to read from
it.
"‘Isn't Harry brilliant? I bet he'd be a famous Quidditch player someday,’" Remus read. Harry was slowly looking more amazed. He stared at the picture and
then at Remus, who smiled at him.
Harry exclaimed, "Wow!" Remus said now taking up the frame from the bed. He slid the picture in it, and stood up. He smoothened out his robes and walked
over to the cabinet. He placed it back on the shelf and stared at it with much concentration.
"Yes, your dad always thought highly of you," he said. Harry looks up at Remus in amazement. He stared at the moving photographs of James next to it.
Harry inquired, "Wh
Harry inquired, "Why do the pictures move?" Harry walked over to the pictures and picked one of them up to stare at it. He loved how he flew around and
in addition, never seeing it before made him even more curious.
"That's how wizarding photos work. Well, most of them at least," Remus said as he now scooted a little ways away from Harry to give him some room. Harry
gazed at the picture watching his baby self zoom from side to side.
"It looks good. Yeah, it's more real," Harry said. Remus smiled at Harry. He took the picture from Harry.
"Yes, the flying broom definitely works better with movement," Remus said looking at the picture and remembering when he first got it. He replaced it up
on the shelf again, and led Harry back towards the bed.
"Why, Remus?" Harry asked. Remus sat down and Harry, seeing that he should too, did so.
"The message on the back about Quidditch," Remus said. Harry was now curious, and the word sounded strange, Quidditch. Surely, that was not a normal term
for people who didn't know magic.
"Ah, what's Quidditch?" Remus said getting up. Remus grabbed up a book from a shelf. It was certainly very colorful.
"Yes, it's a wizarding sport, Harry. It's not heard of in the muggle world much," Remus informed him. He sat down beside Harry, and slowly he laid the book
down upon the bed beside him.
Harry asked inquisitively, "What is a muggle?" Remus was now getting closer to the door. Harry stood up to follow.
"Its people that don't do magic. Why don't you sit back down, Harry. I was going to get a book from my room," Remus said exiting. Harry shouted after Remus,
"You like it, Quidditch!" After a time, Remus returned with a book that seemed decently thick. He laid it down upon the other book and sat beside the pile.
He grabbed up the first book.
"Yes, I don't mind it, and this is Quidditch, Harry," Remus explained as he pointed to the flying balls on the page that he opened to. Harry gazed at it
in amazement. He had never seen anything as exciting as this.
Harry said, "I like watching the boys play ball games outside, when I get to go out. How do you play?" Remus looked in confusion through the entire thing,
but he lightened up when he heard the question.
Remus explained, "Well, you have two teams, and fourteen players. There's seven on each team, and there are hoops which any of the six players can score
in to. They are called the chaser..." He pointed at each player as he showed Harry the Quidditch book. Harry, however was two anxious to hear the rest.
He had to say his bit and didn't bother listening to the rest. He just wanted to say what he wanted to say and get it over.
"It's like football," he ejaculated excitedly. Harry sat back looking at the people in the picture throwing things through the hoop.
"Football...yes, yes. I think I remember. Yes, it's the one with kicking and goals?" Harry looked at Remus and nodded. He stared at him in amazement. He
didn't thinks such a quiet person as Remus would like football.
"Yeah, balls," Harry said excitedly. It was nice to explain something to someone who would actually listen to him. He had tried to explain things to his
uncle and that never turned out for the better.
Remus said lamely, "Really...?" He had no idea how to respond. It just an obvious fact.
"Yeah, and you kick the balls into the goals," Harry kept on explaining. He clearly had not detected the lameness of Remus's reply.
"My dad was raised as a muggle, and I heard him talk about it. It's not often, but once in a while. Especially, when we go to my grandfather's house," he
explained to Harry who was looking at him. Harry wished he had relatives like that. It would be nice to sit at the kitchen table and discuss the goings
of football with Uncle Vernon. Remus's father seemed to be decent, if not good.
Harry asked, "He’s nice, then?" Remus who had the books in his hands laid them down on his other side. He scooted closer to Harry.
"Yes, he's very nice," Remus said now standing up. Remus placed the Quidditch book back up in its respective place, held the other book
firmly in his hands, and Harry stood up. They walked out of Harry’s room and into Remus’s room, and Remus placed the book back on his shelf.
Harry asked, "What's his name?" They walked back to Harry's room.
"His name is John, and my mother's Diana," he explained. Remus sat down again, but Harry was now too excited to.
Harry asked, "Can I go meet them?" Remus smiled at him. Harry was pacing the room.
"Yes, I'll see if we can go soon. It'll have to be after the shopping," said Remus. Harry now with a sigh of relief sat back on the bed.
"Isn't Ron coming tomorrow?" Harry stated. Harry thought that Remus had forgotten that Ron was coming since he mentioned shopping.
"Yes, I was planning to go the day after tomorrow, so you and Ron can have time to play tomorrow," Remus explained. Suddenly, Harry remembered the incident
a few hours back.
"Well he wasn't very nice at dinner," he said. Remus sighed. He would think that Harry would bring that up again, but he still was not looking forward to
discussing it.
"I won't pretend that he's right, however he's to be forgiven. He was mad about that accident. He wasn't happy that his glass was knocked over," Remus explained.
Harry was still not satisfied apparently. He turned to Remus now and clearly it could be sensed that tears were coming soon if the subject wasn't change.
"I tried to help fix it," Harry said. He was really trying hard to get Remus to understand, because Harry didn't think he understood.
Remus asked, "That didn't really stop him from being upset, did it?" He was trying to explain this kindly, however, he didn't seem to be doing much good.
Harry hesitated, "No..."
Remus explained, "Well, people react and I'm sure you are awe, that not all of them are pleasant, Harry. It was a bit much that he knocked you off your
chair, but that's the past Harry. Well, why don't you lay down Harry? How about a story?" Harry laid down, and attempted to pull the covers over himself.
Remus adjusted them so they were more comfortable.
Harry asked amazedly, "Story?" They had read Dudley a few, but bedtime stories were not a usual thing for him. He was surprised, and wasn't sure what to
say.
Remus said, "Yes, I'll get the book, if you'd like?" Remus straightend as he had finished tucking Harry in.
Harry asked, "You have something?" Remus now walked to the door.
"I think I do. Lily left them here for me," He opened the door and leaned against the door frame.
"I never got read to at night. Well, never, really." He said turning on his side, so he'd face Remus.
"If you don't want to, that's all right, I'd understand," Remus explained. He now turned back on his back, and laid flat.
Harry said slowly, and hesitantly, "Well, I don't want to hurt your..." Remus was really nice to him and hurting his feelings wasn't what he intended to
do. He had never had chances as he did now and Remus definitely didn't treat him as a servant. Harry didn't really know how to say no to him, and it was
very difficult.
"No, don't worry. Well, good-night," said Remus. He pulled out his wand and put the light out, and turned to go.
"Good-night, Remus," Harry said.

Chapter Six: Day of Disasters
Clang!
There was the sound of something drooping and then breaking. It was what woke Remus John Lupin on the morning of July 25th. It was the day after Harry had
first came into his custody. He sat up and glanced at the clock on his small table beside his bed. It was only about eight. He hurried out of bed, not
even bothering to change.
"Harry! What are you doing?" he said rather puzzled as he got to the entrance of the kitchen. It was the most notable mess he had ever seen.
There was pumpkin juice all over the ground. It was on the far side of the kitchen, but there was also a little stain on the other side beside a refrigerator.
Their were broken glass and something crimson that looked like blood. A little boy was standing in the middle of it all and his hands were clearly bleeding
heavily. His robes looked filthy, and soaked through. Harry was now filling up a glass, but it was positively overflowing. He had almost dropped the jug
twice already. To the side, the stove was on and the frying pan was on it, however, he was not attending to it and inside the pan it looked like the bacon
was burning.
"Making breakfast," Harry replied honestly. Remus hurriedly took out his wand and extinguished the fire. He didn't want the house to burn down and that
would be the worst thing. He walked over to Harry and took the jug from Harry's hands.
"Here," he said as he set the jug down. He lifted Harry from the mess and carried him out of the kitchen. He set Harry down on the ground in the dining
room.
"Remus," Harry said looking up at Remus. Remus took out his wand again and cleaned Harry up. He gestured for Harry to sit in one of the chairs.
"Harry, it's quite a mess and I think it's best if you sit down. I'll heal your cut and then, I'll make some breakfast," Lupin said as he walked over to
him sitting down. Harry sat down also, however unwillingly. He really was quite ashamed of the mess; the Dursleys would be beating him by now. He hung
his head in shame. He would do anything to make it up, perhaps even help Remus clean.
"I'll help clean," Harry said getting up. Remus had healed his cut and he was dried off. His shirt was less dirty now. He felt much better however, the
shame never left him. He was only trying to cook like he had been taught to do. It was like a natural thing to do for everyday of his life.
"I'll deal with it, Harry. You need not worry. Really, I need to help you clean up here. I really didn't expect for you to attempt the task of making breakfast,
Harry." Remus said now slightly dreading to clean up the huge mess in the kitchen. He stuck his wand back in his pocket. Harry started to get up from his
chair.
"Oh Remus. You're too nice. I need to help," Harry said pulling his chair closer to the table.
"Harry, no, you're still a little young. Perhaps when you get older and besides you need to enjoy yourself," Remus said now sitting Harry back down at the
table. He pulled his chair back out again and sat down himself. He was expecting this and he was horrified at the thought that the Dursleys made him do
these things. He really had a hard time knowing what to do, and how to explain to Harry that he didn't need to help.
"I need to help. I... you don't need...'" 'said Harry looking in every way determined. He had gotten out of his chair and walked towards the kitchens. Remus
was now frustrated at the insistent desire to do so. It was better than him being completely and utterly spoiled, but perhaps it was the extremity of the
opposite.
"Harry, I'm sorry, you aren't going in there, now. I'll have you help me with simple things." He had rushed in front of Harry, and he lead him once more
back to the table. Harry was now desperate. He looked unhappily at Remus. He thought Remus would let him help because he seemed to be like a nice man.
He held Harry in his lap.
Harry said desperately, "I want to help. I have to help. I'll fix it. I'll fix it all." He was trying desperately to get out of Remus's arms. Remus let
him down on the ground, but kept a hand on Harry's arm, so he didn't go to the kitchen. He certainly didn't need Harry to be in that mess, and didn't
want him to get hurt.
"Harry, I'm sorry, but you're not going in there. Why don't you just sit at the table and I'll clean this up quickly. I'll make you some breakfast in a
few minutes after it's all clean," he explained. Harry was trying to worm his way out of Remus's firm grip on him. His face looked determined, and he screwed
up his face in concentration. Remus sighed and looked frustrated.
Harry said loudly, "BUT, I want to help!" Harry realized whatever effort he could put in to it and even with the most he could do, he couldn't do it. He
was now getting angry and upset. After all he made the mess, and he was taught to clean. He had not yet known Remus's ways yet.
"Thank you, Harry, but I don't think it's the right time for that. Why don't you go and sit down?" Remus let him go, and grudgingly Harry sat down. He didn't
really want to however, he saw no alternatives. Remus went in and quickly cleaned up the mess with his wand. Harry rethought over it, and realized that
going against Remus wasn't the most wise thing to do. After all he was only trying to be good to him. It was a good five minutes before remus brought two
steaming hot plates of food.
"Here," Remus said putting down the plate in front of Harry. He set his own plate down and sat down. He took up his silverware and started to eat.
"Thank you, Remus. It looks good," Harry said eagerly picking up his fork and quickly stabbed a piece of bacon. Remus had apparently cut up his things.
He quickly lifted it and brought it to his mouth.
"Yes, it does. Careful Harry it's hot," Remus cautioned. Harry had eaten the piece quickly, then another, and yet another in rapid procession.
"I eaten hot stuff before, I won't burn myself," he said earnestly. He wanted to look good and as an older child than he was. He wasn't quite use to this
treatment, and kindness was not something he had encountered before. It was all really strange to him, but rather comforting. He was now glad that he didn't
have to clean that mess.
This must be how Dudley felt, he supposed. He felt that he was at peace at last, but still he'd want to feel a little more in the middle of how he felt
before and not as he did now. Since he did much work before, he now felt slightly useless, but enjoying it.
"Really?" Remus asked not really knowing what on earth to say. He thought he was doing fine, but he had never raised any children before, so he wouldn't
know if he was completely doing it correctly or not.
He said apparently not sensing the lameness of Remus's response, "Yeah. Remus, can I help you with thing
He said apparently not sensing the lameness of Remus's response, "Yeah. Remus, can I help you with things?"
"Well, I suppose simple things. It wouldn't hurt, but cooking at your age is very dangerous. I'm afraid, I won't permit you to help with that until you're
older," he said, now sipping at his own coffee. He set it upon the table, and started eating again. They finished their breakfast, and Harry still looked
a bit dismayed, but he sat in silence. He really did appreciate the new gained care free life.
Remus had just picked up the things from the table and pulled out his wand to clean the table, so he did. He entered the kitchen and Harry walked in behind
him. Harry upon stepping put into it spotted something up on the shelf.
Harry asked, "What's that?" Remus glanced at the thing Harry was pointing to up on a shelf. He was about to pick it up.
"It's a cauldron. I use it to brew potions. I have one in the bedroom and that one is much cleaner. If you give me a minute," Remus said as he had just
started to wash out the plate with his wand. He abandoned the process. He gestured for Harry to follow as he exited the kitchen.
Harry asked Remus upon entering the room, "What's that?" He ran towards a calendar type of booklet hanging up on Remus's wall. He flipped through it. Harry
exclaimed at the look of it. He really did like it.
"It's a lunar chart, and the dates are there," Remus said taking the booklet off the wall. Harry held it in his hand, and looked through it. Remus had pointed
at where the dates were.
"This is hard to read," Harry said looking at what he thought was complicated. Remus shook his head and took the book back from Harry.
"Not at all. It's simple once you learn how to look at charts properly," He explained. Harry stared at the front of it. He couldn't see how it was not complicated.
It seemed to much of something to even exist, but he decided it must be rude to say anything else of the sort.
Harry looked at it amazedly, "Do you use it loads?" He had remembered seeing pages being marked off and places where it was coloured in. He wondered why
that had to be.
"Yes, in a way," Remus said absently. He had sank into a chair. A rustling noise came from atop a shelf.
Harry asked looking scared, "What's that noise?" Remus stood up and reached up. He brought down a cage. Inside this was unmistakably an owl.
"It's my owl," Remus said. Harry reached out his hand. He stuck his fingers where the bar. The brown owl shrank to the other side. Lupin put the cage on
his bed and opened it up. He took his owl out and held him tightly. The owl was about to fly away.
Harry asked amazedly, "You keep an owl in here all the time?" Harry reached out to touch the owl. The owl stretched and hooted supremely.
"Yes, I send letters with her," Remus explained. Harry petted the owl who hooted in affection. She went towards Harry, but Remus held her back. He thought
that the suddenness of the owls landing on Harry would frightened him.
Harry asked, "She doesn't sleep?" Remus was now stroking the owl with one hand. Harry imitated the movement.
"She sleeps mostly at night," Remus said. Looking out the window he saw figures, and upon recognizing some he drew the curtains shut. He didn't want unnecessary
attention and especially to Harry.
"Owls sleep in the day," Harry stated. He had clearly learned that not long ago in his class. Remus smiled at him. He quickly put Crystal, the owl, back
in her cage.
He explained, "The ones in wizarding households usually sleeps at night as... wait, stay here. Don't make any noise." There had been an interruption just
after he had stuck the cage on top of the shelf. There was a knock at the door and he clearly knew who it was.
"Remus," Harry said now scared. He was getting closer to Remus who was trying to shake him off. Remus knew if they spotted Harry, they would both be in
danger. They won't have a chance before Harry was taken.
"Harry, please," Remus said as he went out, and close the door behind him. He got to the door, and opened it.
Author's Notes: That'll be the end of the sixth chapter. Well, I hope you were delighted with it. Please drop in a review if you please.

the responses. Yes, I do thank you all. Thank you all kind reviewers, and the most delightful people who put me on their alert or favorites. Also thank
you for people who spread this fanfic far and wide in their story collections. I am delighted to have my story on them. It's pretty awesome, when that
just proves to you about how good you write. Of course, I don't want to boast, but it does prove to me what an improvement I have made. The last person
I have to thank is my beta and assistant, gifted. I couldn't work as efficiently without her, and this story would not be like this.

Chapter Seven: The Struggle
"Remus, where's Harry?" said Cornelius Fudge, the minister of magic. Upon the opening of the door he assumed that Remus warmly welcomed him in admission.
He stepped inside urgently. Remus stood firmly and intended to hold his ground. No one was going to take Harry and he was not going to make it easy on
them.
"I suggest you don't attempt it, minister. He's fine," Remus explained as he walked in front of Fudge. Fudge stood looking at him. He was now angry. This
was not safe Fudge knew what Remus was. Fudge balled up his fists.
"He's not, now look here..." Fudge said angrily. Remus drew his wand. If he needed to he'd be more than happy to put up a fight even with the most powerful
positions in office or even the minister to keep James and Lily's son well.
"I don't want to hear it, minister," he said bravely. He was not frightened of anything. He was ready to fight Fudge no matter if it was legal or not. He
was ready, and he knew that his best mate would support him if they were present.
The minister roared, "You are dangerous, and this is not going to be safe!" There was footsteps outside and they were getting louder and louder.
Remus shouted, "Don't... you... dare!" He was about to curse Fudge before Dumbledore came in upon the two men who looked as if they were about to duel each
other. Remus blushed and slightly lowered his wand, but it was still important to keep his defenses.
Albus said, "Cornelius, I told you it was not necessary to bother—by ah” Albus looked irritated, and was worried. He stepped inside, and he faced the minister.
His frustration was on his face. His voice was calm, but at the same time it was a bit urgent. Albus knew that he needed to try his hardest he could ever
have done to keep the little dilemma in control. It was ridiculous, because he had told the minister that the slightest interruption was unnecessary. It
was useless, and Bagnold had not listened. She had sent Fudge to rudely bother Remus.
"Leave it to me, Albus you're a bit overly worried," Fudge said waving off Dumbledore. Dumbledore was not satisfied, and thought the gesture quite improper.
Now Fudge was making the game much harder than it needed to be.
"You will not bother, Remus. I placed him here for a good reason," Dumbledore said in his most stern voice. He had stepped directly in front of Cornelius
and now appear to survey him with his twinkling blue eyes. Cornelius looked angry.
"DUMBLEDORE, ah—by” Cornelius spoke. He stepped back a step, and looked at Dumbledore. Dumbledore had drawn his wand now.
Dumbledore asked calmly as if he was asking for more sugar to put in his tea, "You don't trust me, Cornelius, do you?" Fudge now had looked flustered. He
was not about to give up.
"Well, yes, of course. Of course I do, but I m-i. Not... no. Albus, you are interfering with business," Fudge said. He had to do this and this was important
this depended on his life and job. This was not good, and it always proved troublesome, however, he had expected it.
"On the contrary," Albus objected politely. He sounded as calm as ever, but looked ready to move at any moment.
"Now, Dumbledore, you're just making things more difficult," Fudge said sounding annoyed. He advanced and looked ready to curse Albus.
"Don't make me curse you, Cornelius. Now, I ask—” Albus said.
"I am the minister, Dumble—“ said Fudge. Dumbledore had fired off a jinx and it hit fudge at that point. The minister fell with a thud to the ground unconscious,
and not stirring.
"Now Remus, quickly. Cornelius could become conscious anytime, and a struggle once more will not be good. You need to leave this house for a few months,
maybe years or possibly forever. I am not sure, however you're not safe here. Take Harry with you and go," Dumbledore explained rather urgently. He was
now pacing the Room. While doing so Dumbledore stuck his wand back in his pocket.
"I'll go to my parents’ house. I think it's safe there," Remus said. He presently walked to the door of his room.
Dumbledore asked, "Quite safe, I belief. Now, where's Harry?" He was now looking around. Remus had his hand on the door.
"He's in my room, here. I made him stay in there, because I saw that it was Cornelius as I came out here," Remus said as he made for the fireplace. He was
planning to go tell the Lupins of the matter, so they'd be ready of the arrival of them both.
"Good, Remus. I'll arrange the matter with your parents if you get ready to leave in a few minutes' time," Dumbledore said. Dumbledore grabbed up the box
of flu powder, and pinched up a little bit of flu powder. He cast it into the lit grate and stuck his head in shouting the name of Remus's parents house.
Remus opened the door. Harry was sitting on the floor next to the bed and was sobbing.
"Harry, come, quickly," Remus said walking over to the shelf and grabbed up some books, and stuffed it inside a bag hurriedly. He put a few more in, and
rushed out of the room. Harry looked up and got up. He exited the room after Remus. Harry was looking at Remus with tearful eyes. He was wondering why
Remus did what he did to him.
"Remus, that... that," Harry said trying to calm himself. He was behind trailing Remus. He was looking down at the ground and not wanting Remus to see his
tear filled eyes. If Remus was so cruel as to do this, then he really didn't want to look weak at all. He took care to be looking calm before he looked
up. They were now in his room, and Remus had put more of his books into the bag.
"I'm sorry Harry, but it was dangerous. I don't have much time to explain. We have to leave, quickly," Remus explained still vigorously packing. Now he
stuffed in some of the picture frames with the photos, and placed them inside the bag. It was placed in with much more gentleness, so as to not break them.
He asked sounding more annoyed at not being fully informed, "Remus, what?" Remus really wanted to explain, so Harry would not be in such distress, however
he couldn't. He was in so much of a hurry. He knew if they didn't want Fudge to revive when they were still here, then their packing needed to be swift
and leaving was required to be done promptly. It was not as hard as it could be. After all, he was not doing this alone and was helped by Albus.
"I'll explain later. You'll be with Albus for a little," Remus said urgently now grabbing anything and everything he could find to put in his bag. He was
really in a hurry, but he want to get everything that was Harry's. It didn't matter if his things was with them, but
Harry's things were the most necessary.
"Remus," Harry said going up to him. Remus kept on packing. He really had no time to explain for he was in a hurry. No matter how many times, or how hard
Harry begged of him he still didn't have the time. On the other hand, he knew that if he didn't give Harry some kind of explanation, Harry would never
stop bugging him.
He said now deciding some explanation was better than none, "It's safer this way. You have less of a chance of getting hurt. That's the important thing,"
Remus said quickly. He was really the cause of the whole chaos, and the mess was his own doing. The faster they get out, the better and he didn't want
to cause any more ha
He said now deciding some explanation was better than none, "It's safer this way. You have less of a chance of getting hurt. That's the important thing,"
Remus said quickly. He was really the cause of the whole chaos, and the mess was his own doing. The faster they get out, the better and he didn't want
to cause any more harm.
"Remus, I want to be with you," Harry now said trying to cling on to Remus. He couldn't lose Remus. He was so kind and gentle and Remus Lupin meant everything
possible to him. He didn't need any other abandonment, because the first was bad enough. If he got abandoned again, well, he didn't know if he could live
anymore. Remus who was packing had the opposite opinion of things. Of course he loved Harry, but this was irritating and frustrating. He was a little to
attached at this point and he didn't know how to deal with it. He understood why, of course and how normal it was.
"Harry, listen to me. It's really important. I'll do my best to be there in a few minutes after you. You're going to my parents’ house, so you don't need
to worry," Remus said stopping his packing a moment and laid a most comforting hand on Harry shoulder. He was in a rush, but Harry really needed to have
his concerns settled. Harry was persistent and his hopping around the room was not going to help anything. It did slow down the process a bit.
Harry said excitedly, "Your parents?" Remus nodded. Harry had heard enough. The word "parents" was enough to satisfy them. Being that he was only four,
he could not see it was a plot to ditch him, even if it was, because it sounded safe.
"Yes, they'd be the best option there is now," he said kindly starting back up with the packing. He was almost done with Harry's room.
Harry asked looking as if he would hop around the room with joy anytime now, "Remus, what are they like? How are they like? Are they nice?" Harry was really
happy about it. There was a pattering of feet.
"Harry, not now. You'll see in a moment for yourself," Remus said still packing. Dumbledore came in to the room.
"Albus, take Harry with you first. I'll follow in a bit. I'm trying to cram some things in here for Harry," Remus said. Harry looked sadly at Remus and
Dumbledore nodded to show he did understand.
"All right, Remus. Harry, come with me." He said. He led Harry out of the room and got some flu powder. He threw that in to the fireplace and stepped in.
Dumbledore shouted, "The Laire!" A second later they appeared in the Lupin's fireplace. Dumbledore stepped out placing Harry on his feet.
"Hello, Harry. I'm John Lupin!" He said, "Where's Remus, Dumbledore." He had first address Harry then turn to Albus. John brushed the ashes off of Harry.
Dumbledore was brushing the ashe off of himself at the same time.
"He's still at the house packing," Dumbledore said. He straightened up, and walked more inside the room. John led Harry into the room and lead him toward
the couch.
John asked, "He shall be here promptly?" John had sat Harry down. Dumbledore stepped closer to the fire now.
"I suppose, according to him, he would. I hope there's no struggle," Dumbledore said. Dumbledore said walking to the door.
John asked courteously, "Thank you, Dumbledore. Will you stay for breakfast?" Dumbledore open the door, and got ready to step outside.
Dumbledore said over his shoulders, "No, but thank you. If you don't mind, I'll drop by tomorrow for dinner." He stepped out of the door.
John shouted after Dumbledore, "That's no problem. Harry, did you have breakfast, yet?" John now said turning to Harry. John surveyed him for a moment.
Harry nodded. Since Remus had told him some things about his father he was interested in the man.
Harry asked suddenly, "Remus said you are a muggle." John chuckled. This little boy was certainly amusing him as he thought he might. After all small children
were pretty amusing.
"No, I was muggle born, but I am a wizard," John said as he got up from the couch. He walked towards the fire peering into it. Mrs. Dianna Lupin the lady
of the house and Remus's mother came walking in the room.
Dianna asked, "Hello. Is that Harry?" John turned away from the fire. He walked closer.
"Yes. Harry, this is Dianna," he said making somewhat of an introduction. Dianna smiled at Harry.
"Hello, Harry," she said. She looked at the fire. Then, she realized it was Remus he was waiting for.

Chapter Eight
Severus Argues
Severus had thought over this matter all morning long, and had just about enough. He had figured it out. Remus had taken custody of Harry James Potter.
That was enough for any sensible man to get angry at. This was not right and he must immediately go down to seeing this settled.
This was unnerving to him. Dumbledore must have gotten some sort of charm placed upon him. Perhaps he was jinxed. He sighed, put down his papers he was
working on, and walked out of the dungeon. He made his way quickly up to Albus's office.
Meanwhile Albus had just arrived at his office from dealing with Fudge. This was absurd that Bagnold had to interfere as such. He brushed off his robes
and just had taken a seat, when he heard a tap at the door. The door flew open before he could say anything. A very weary looking Severus stepped in.
"Dumbledore, I can't believe this. You are putting things in the worse possible position it has ever been in," Snape said angrily as he slammed the door
behind him. Dumbledore gestured to a chair near the desk and Severus took it with a huff. Dumbledore got up and walked over to the cabinet. He drew out
a bottle, poured himself a good sized cup. and went back to the desk.
"I don't see that I have done anything wrong, Severus," Albus said quietly reseating him. He sighed putting his fingertips together.
Snape exclaimed, "Potter!" Dumbledore scanned him with understanding. Indeed, he would be coming to that, he saw Harry with Remus after all yesterday. This
was what he least expected, but it did not shock him. He sighed patiently. He took a sip from the cup.
"Yes, you have your complains then. I thought you weren't concerned unless the boy is unsafe," he said calmly. Snape sighed impatiently and looked at Dumbledore
in amazement. How could Potter be safe, if he was living under a person he knew to be dangerous. Dumbledore on the other hand looked extremely bored.
Snape declared, "He isn't!" Severus turned a shade of pink. He fumbled in his pocket, but pulled out nothing when he withdrew his hand.
"What do you mean Severus? He definitely is safe," Dumbledore said presently shuffling through some papers. He sighed and took one in his hand. He put it
in front of him in a cleared space and started to write in some little details.
"Lupin, he's a werewolf, Dumbledore," Snape snarled angrily. Of course he knew Dumbledore didn't forget that. It'd be stupid for him to think as such, but
maybe a kind reminder is something he needed.
Dumbledore put down his quill now sighing, "I'm aware of that, Severus.” Snape looked at Albus meaningfully, and glanced around his room. Has this man gone
mad? Maybe all these years had caused him to go mad.
Snape was now impatient, and he asked, "Then, what is Potter doing in his custody?" Snape had enough, and enough was enough. He could not stand this. It
was time to be direct this. He had to remind himself that Harry was Lily's son. Dumbledore couldn't be more frustrated at this thought and he didn't want
to argue with Severus. This was not worth the fight. This was daft to fight over.
"Remus will keep him safe, and I feel that old prejudices won't do. If Harry's in any life threatening situation, I'll be sure to be on the case. I'm concerned
about him too, you must know that," Albus said now a little sharply. He was not going to go through this.
Severus who had old prejudices was not going to intervene. He must not let him do so.
"I want you to keep him in safer quarters, no matter what you have to say about it. I want him in a position less dangerous. There's a part of Lily in him
after all, and that is reason enough to do so," Snape said standing up. He had enough.
"I still don't believe he's in any," Dumbledore said.
"You are too foolish and lenient," Snape said pulling out his wand. He handled his wand with great care and pointed it at Dumbledore. Dumbledore eyed it,
but looked unmoved otherwise. He didn't attempt to pull out his own wand and he certainly didn't want a fight. He could finish off Severus right at this
very moment if he wanted to do it, but he knew it was not wise.
"If I was not, Severus, you wouldn't be standing in my very presence at this present moment," He said hinting inspecting the young man in front of him.
Snape was furious and was going to curse Dumbledore, but thought better. This man after all let him back in the light side, when he knew that no one else
would.
"Some of your decisions are flawed, but my acceptance must have been some good accident. Now, I want Harry out of the possession of the half-breed! It has
gone too far with your awkward opinions," he said. He sat back down but his hand still was on the handle of his wand.
"I doubt it, I do not feel that's the case," Albus said almost finally, but Severus was never going to let this man win. He tapped his wand on Albus's desk
menacingly.
"Then you're mistaken. You must have a pretty thick head to make this kind of decision," Snape said coldly. Albus was impossible truly impossible to the
point of annoyance. He won't stand any of this nonsense.
"I don't doubt that. We have our little wants as humans and each must have there little things to hold on to. I am an old man Severus," Dumbledore said
calmly undoubtedly responding quite well to his little menacing tones and an insult. He didn't know how the man coped with it, because he certainly wouldn't
have, but he had served his purpose apparently, then.
Snape asked, "What does that have to do with anything?" He was now lost. He knew what the man was saying, but not his motives.
"I'm trying to say that mistakes are natural and that since I'm an old man, I tend to make more mistakes," Dumbledore said now finishing off his cup and
pushing it aside. No, he won't take another glass so soon. He won't want that. Snape looked triumphant. If he heard correctly, then Dumbledore actually
confessed to his mistakes.
"So you admit putting Potter with Lupin was a fault," Snape persisted snidely. He really didn't know why he did it now and after another thought, he realized
that of course it made no sense, but after all he started it, so he must finish it. Why was he so concerned about Harry James Potter?
No, he was being a bit too much involved and that was definitely not a good idea. He had some James in him after all. Surely, Harry did have some of Lily's
traits, but he must remember that he was also James's son. He was going a little too fast and he shouldn't have come here at all. This fight wasn't worth
it all. It was too late to stop it however. They were in the middle of it and it is better to finish.
"No, because any other wizard would spoil Potter or want to hold him captive," Albus said knowingly. He had done his researches well and his investigation
showed him that. Surely most people on the light side would be worshipping him and therefore he would be spoilt. On the other hand the death eaters he
knew perfectly well would want to torture him.
Snape said sarcastically, "Oh, is it?" He was now in a bad moody humor and for old man. He was not goin
Snape said sarcastically, "Oh, is it?" He was now in a bad moody humor and for old man. He was not going to stand for him. He had quite enough.
"Severus, I feel that this session is over," he said pointedly. Snape had to silently agree, however he was not going to make it that easy for Dumbledore.
"It's not! You haven't agreed to take potter out of the possession of that Marauding half breed," he ranted heatedly. He was now only fighting for the fight,
because he happened to agree with everything said by Dumbledore.
"That'll not happen Severus and I doubt you can do better. I know that you do know all this," Dumbledore said as he waved his wand over his cup, and stood
up to replace it in the cabinet. Severus stood now angrily turning away from Dumbledore. He walked angrily towards the door.
Snape said furiously, "Oh yeah, delightful, Dumbledore. Trying to put me faulty. I... will... not... tolerate!" After he said that he walked out and slammed
the door shut.
Author's Note: All right that's the end of it. This will be the last time you see Snape in the Hero's guardian. He might be mentioned throughout this story,
but never personally speak again. I had thought that perhaps we could do a scene where he interrupts Harry's party and refuse to leave, but that's really
out of the question because it does tend to become too much. Now, please review.

Chapter Nine: Flying Chaotically
Remus had now arrived at his parents' house and insisted on a private word with his parents. Remus sat Harry down in the kitchen, and put an interesting
looking book before him. He assured Harry that it wouldn't be long. He then left the kitchen closing the door behind him.
It was a good ten minutes later and Remus who had finished speaking to his parents now came back into the kitchen. He waited until Harry had finished inspecting
a picture.
"Why don't you stay with my dad while I'll go up to look after setting up our rooms?" Remus said reaching out to get Harry's book. Harry closed the book
and attempted to pull out the chair beside him. Remus smiled, but stayed standing.
"I want to stay with you, Remus," Harry said presently getting up. He went over to Remus and embraced him around the waist. Remus bent down and embraced
Harry back. He smiled and straightened up.
"Harry, you'll have enough time with me later. I just simply have to fix up our rooms. I'll be back by lunchtime, and we'll have sometime together," Remus
said leading Harry out to the Living Room. John was lounging on the couch, and Dianna was disappearing up the stairs.
Harry was still clinging on to Remus. He had to go prepare the rooms so they could settle in them. He didn't know really how to do it very politely, however,
so he did the best he could.
"But... R-Remus," he said looking up pleadingly at Remus. Remus had not been long with him and not had any real opportunities to be together except that
short while before lunch yesterday. Sure, they had eaten breakfast together and they had discussed things. That was it however, it was not enough. He wanted
a long period to be with just Remus, but had not gotten it. Remus was dear to him, more than anyone else, and the more they spent together was the better
to him.
"Harry, I'm sorry, but things need to be done. My dad will be here with you," he said kindly. He understood Harry pretty well and he certainly didn't want
to be cruel. He realized and recognized that he was much of a role model for Harry, and he greatly represented a father.
He had however to remember that he was not James. He couldn't totally replace him, since he was one person and James was another. The other factor being
that James was one of his few friends. He felt that it was his responsibility therefore, to be kinder to Harry than he would be to any other boy.
"R-Remus," said Harry looking down with teary eyes at the ground now, but Remus followed his gaze to the floor and saw his expression. He didn't want to
shake off Harry, especially now in this state since he didn't look happy. He realized however unwillingly so he must do it. Their rooms were important
and it was not like Harry had no one to be with.
"I'll be back," Remus said as he bent down to embrace Harry. He then walked off, and left Harry standing there. Perhaps, it was cruel, but he must leave
him. All apologies could be done later.
"Harry, it'll be fine," John said kindly walking Harry to the couch where he had sat. He sat Harry upon his lap. Harry looked miserable altogether. It was
not fair for Remus to leave him and leaving him in such a way that was such uncalled for in his opinion. He didn't really care if Remus even had any good
reasons for it or not.
His thoughts turned from Remus and he glanced up into John's features. John smiled at him and Harry suddenly remembered the conversation with Remus the
night before. He was excited and wanted to know the whole of it.
"You like Quidditch?" Harry said turning toward John to ask. He was now sitting sideways on John's lap. John shifted his legs so Harry could sit more comfortably.
Harry was wondering if John liked Quidditch, because the little of what he saw in that book and what Remus mentioned it seemed like a fun sport.
"Of course. Every wizard likes it in some way," John said. To his knowledge most people liked the sport enough to respect it and there were only a few that
didn't. He had always liked it and used to play with his friends. The girls he knew though weren’t so fond of playing, but they watched and cheered. He
certainly didn't want Harry to have a bad impression of it.
Harry asked looking up in his eyes, "Do you play?" He seemed such a wonderful man and such wonderful people were usually talented or at least to Harry it
was that way. So remarkable he seemed that it wouldn't really make much sense to Harry if he didn't. Such a good sport seemed to fit people as John well.
John now smiled at the child. No, he was not a very good player, but he was good enough as a young one to be on the Quidditch team. He certainly knew he
had no international or even national standards. He could play decently, and he was of course good enough for his friends to want to play a game with him.
"Well, I use to play at school," John told Harry. Harry looked up at him with admiration and praises. That seemed amazing to little Harry Potter. Harry
was thrilled, if John had played on a team, then he was definitely a good person to talk to. He wondered if he was good enough to get on a broom himself.
He wanted to say a great deal, but only one word came out. It was not necessarily what he truly wish to say, but he did say it.
Harry asked, "School?" John laughed. John recognized Harry amazement and was quite amused. It, of course, stood out to such a young boy that he was on a
school team, and he remembered Remus's reaction was something similar. He knew, however, it was almost nothing to recognize himself of. John had only barely
made it on to the team and it was very lucky of the Captain to choose him. Yet, the one word Harry had picked up was school and that amused him.
"Yes, up at the castle and Dumbledore..." John said kindly. He was not sure if he knew that Albus taught, but no matter if he did or not, he'd just tell
Harry. He mentioned Dumbledore teaching, because while wizarding children might have some clue he had heard that Harry had lived with Muggle. Clarification
therefore was necessary.
"Dumbledore?" Harry said looking up at him amazedly. Harry really liked Albus, because he was such a nice man. He had such a nurturing air around him that
it was hard for Harry not to like him. He remembered back to yesterday, when Ron decided to make a big fuss. Remus was also, but Remus didn't seem as important
as Albus was. Albus who seemed powerful and important earned the recognition of Harry's attention when his name was mentioned.
"Yeah, Dumbledore was my teacher," John stated. He well remembered days before he became headmaster. He was a fair teacher and decent deputy headmaster.
He was always on the watch and his record at the school seemed decent. He was very smart, and Albus never seemed to have anything bad to say about anyone.
"Albus, he taught?" Harry asked in surprise as he jumped off John and sat besides him. Harry was tired of sitting on John and wanted a change. Besides,
the couch was much softer and more comfortable.
John asked, "He taught transfiguration, and very well too. Now, Harry, how about a broom ride?" He now stood up in front of Harry. Harry stared up at him.
A broom ride, of course that sounded superb and nothing could be better.
"Yes, I would like that," he said excitedly in a small squeaky way. He was excited, but he w
"Yes, I would like that," he said excitedly in a small squeaky way. He was excited, but he was still unsure of it all.
John went around the Living Room looking for his broom. He seemed to have forgotten where he placed the brooms. He usually did remember where his things
were, but this time he didn't. He was rummaging thoroughly in search of his broom around in the Living Room. After about two minutes he pulled a broomstick
from behind a shelf. Harry was still watching him silently.
"Let me see now... if I have my broomstick handy," John said laying that particular one on the couch. He looked behind the shelf again. He pulled out another
broom.
"Thanks sir," Harry said as he was handed the broom. John felt for the boy and at such a young age and already knowing such manners to call him sir. That
didn't sit right with him. It was polite, but it seemed almost pitiful coming from such a young boy.
"Call me, John, Harry," he said leading Harry out by the door. Harry was amazed at the broom given to him. He had remembered sweeping with one and now he
was invited to fly on one. That was a big change in itself.
"We're going," Harry said as they approached the door. John reached out and unlocked the door. He led Harry out on to the front porch. Harry looked around
at the outside of the house and their yard out in front. It was definitely a ton nicer then the Dursleys.
"Yes, I have my broom," John said indicating his broom. Harry nodded and they stepped off the front porch. There was a little fenced off yard. He looked
at the thick barriers as they rounded the corner.
"Can you teach me how to fly and I'll fly?" Harry asked John as he unlocked the doors to the back yard. It was a small yard with thick walls all around.
When Remus used to live here, he came in here when he transform. It was well protected from the outside. It was sound proof and there was no way he could
get out.
"I better fly you around so we can prevent danger. I'll just hold on to your broom for safety," John said. They crossed the yard and entered into another
yard after John had unlocked another door. This was the one not hidden from the road, and there was a gate that led to the street. The yard was decently
large, and there were several goal posts on either side.
"I won't crash," Harry said holding his broom excitedly. He looked up to the hoops.
"You never know, but all the same. Now, we'll see. Position the broom this way. Yes, there you are," John said and now Harry had now gotten the broom into
his control. Harry was going to kick off. Harry already seemed really confident, and natural. It was such a surprise.
"Just kick off," John informed him. Harry was now struggling with the broomstick. Harry did so, and he soared upwards. It felt so great. It was the greatest
thing Harry had felt in his life, and there was nothing better. John kicked off as well and he now sat on a broom beside Harry. They were flying around
the pitch for sometime. Twice Harry was close to crashing in to the goal posts. On both occasions before John could even pull him back, he had turned sharply
and flew off quickly and nearly avoided the post. He was having so much fun constantly squealing and laughing.
Harry shouted, "Look, John, I'm going down!" Harry was diving quickly and john had to struggle to keep up. They were a foot from the ground and John thought
it was going to be the end of it all, but it was not. Harry had pulled up sharply and rose quickly.
"You have pretty well managed it. It's as if you're a natural," John informed him still tearing after the laughing Harry. He was seriously finding it very
difficult, because Harry seemed very efficient. The speed he was accelerating at was not expected from a mere child and even if they tried most would always
have crashed.
"This is fun," Harry shouted as he soared over a goal post, which John was weary about.
John said, "It's more fun with balls in the whole thing.” He really wanted the boy to be safe, but he also wanted him to have fun. He checked his robe,
and sighing in relief because of feeling his wand in his belt. He wasn't sure if he had it on him.
Harry asked excitedly, "Really? Can we get them out? Can we?" Harry said drawing closer to the house. John tailed him very finely.
"May..." he started to answer.
Dianna screamed from inside a room, "Good gracious! Oh, he's going to crash!" Harry was now quite close to the sill. He slowed his broom and stopped it
in front of the window hovering above the window sill.
This window belonged to the room next to the one Remus and Dianna were in now.
"Mother what's... my... god...," Remus said as he poked his head out of the window He was now panicking. He didn't want anything to happen to Harry and
especially not just when he arrived at this location. He couldn’t do anything significant however. He couldn't just leap out of the window because frankly
it was the second floor. He was a little more reassured because his father was behind Harry.
"He's going to crash," Dianna cried as Harry zoomed over to their window. John had now decided that Harry had enough fun for the day and he should really
take him in. It was not as safe as he thought it might be. Remus grimaced at the thought of Harry getting injured, but had to smile at the resemblance
between him and James.
"Merlin's beard," John shouted as Harry kicked off from the window sill and soared off. Remus was surprised at how great of a flyer Harry was, but still
felt that it was not safe. This reminded him of old times because he remembered that even with a little child's broom he flew remarkably well, except for
the fact that it was only about two feet off of the ground.
"I won't crash," Harry said very happily as he flew off.
"Dad, I really think you should get him to safety. He almost crashed, and of course we can't stand to lose him," Remus said loudly as his father zoomed
off after Harry.
"It's funny," Harry said doubling back flying higher this time and aimed at the wide open window. Remus thought he knew what Harry was planning to do.
"What are you doing Harry? No, not in here, please," Remus said. Sure enough, Harry had flown into the room. He spotted a book and flew over close to it.
He landed on the floor. Remus was grimacing.
"Is this mine?" Harry said grabbing at a stack of books on the ground.
He was excited, because half of these he hadn't seen. It was on his shelf the night before, but Remus had yet to show him. He threw book after book aside
marveling at the covers.
"Yes, Harry. If you please, just stay clear of here for maybe another half an hour we'll have everything arranged. Now Dad, I think he'd be better off not
being on the broom," he said handing John the hovering broom. Harry looked sadly around his new room, and caught sight of a familiar book.
"Is that the Quidditch one?" Harry said picking up the book Remus had taken from him about half an hour ago. Remus smiled at him. He reached out to get
it from Harry.
"Yes it is, can I have that back, please?" Remus said and Harry with a very reluctant sigh handed it back over. Remus bent down to embrace Harry and then
straightened up.
"Why don't you go down with my Dad and I'll join you later?" Remus smiled as Harry looked around the room sadly. John was now at the door.
"Come Harry, let’s leave them in peace," John said turning around and beckoned Harry towards him. Harry and John walked out of the room.
"Thank you, Father," Remus said as they walked down the stairs.

Chapter Ten: The Three Adults
It was a good hour or so before Remus came down, but before then Harry was starting to get fussy. He had a long morning, and now he had enough. He refused
any offers of food and insisted on waiting for Remus. When Remus came down he was fussing on John lap who was trying really hard to make him happy. He
was so moody that he didn't notice that Remus had come down until Remus sat beside them.
"Hello Harry," Remus said comfortably as Harry was still fussing in his father's arms. Remus lifted Harry into his arms and sighed. He didn't know what
to do and had never been through this before. He wasn't an infant or even a toddler any more and he had never been around children except for Harry when
he was even younger. He felt frustrated, but he knew he couldn't show it.
It was not his fault that he was either. Children got moody because they needed sleep, and it was natural for it to be that way. Remus decided he needed
some rest sooner or later. That was what it seemed like because Harry seemed rather moody. It would serve him some good since he had a long morning already.
"I was waiting for you," he said fussily in Remus's arms. Remus comforted him some more. It was awkward, because he had no idea what to do.
"Have you had any lunch yet?" he asked simply. Harry was opening his mouth to answer.
John said before Harry could speak, "No, he wanted to wait for you to eat." Remus looked down at Harry seeming to sympathize. This was dear to him. Harry
was merely a child and yet he loved him so well. He was so loyal. It was a simple gesture of love, but it overwhelmed Remus.
To think that a mere child was going to starve himself until a due time out of affection, and wouldn't eat till he did. He was indeed like James, and he
remembered his first year at Hogwarts when James had been late to class because he had waited until Remus was ready. James was in trouble that time, and
yet he took the detention willingly. He had pointed out that his friends were more important to him then class time. That earned him another detention,
but he could have cared less.
"Thank you Harry, but you didn't have to do that," Remus said to Harry, and then turned his attention to his father, "Dad, are you joining us? Mum was going
to come down in a bit. She was attempting to make the room blue." John laughed good naturedly. Remus proceeded into the kitchen as John followed. John
was amused by his wife's wits. She always had clever ideas and great solutions. Many times, when Remus was a child, Dianna had thought of a way to give
Remus some cheering up and John could have never think of it.
"Ah, your mother was always brilliant like that. Ah well, how unfortunate that she could never possibly be a grandmother. That Riddle; I never liked him
even when he was the Head Boy. What a shame. He had almost terrified half the students in the school and I was only in my first year when he was Head Boy.
I could never stand him," John ranted. Remus looked tense. This talk was not the most present thing to discuss as Lord Voldemort was someone that had given
his family, his friends, and himself most of all, a sense of great fear.
When they were in school, Voldemort had risen to power and everyday there were news of killings or terror. It angered and terrified his friends. It had
given the ambition to fight him.
When he was younger than school age, a werewolf commanded by this same dark wizard, Voldemort, had mercilessly bit him. That had made him an outcast forever
more. Voldemort had Remus bitten, because his parents, John and Dianna, were blatantly unwilling to turn to the dark side and they were very proud to declare
it. Then just five years ago, he had tried to kill off Harry Potter, but he failed at that. Riddle had also murdered his best friend and his wife. This
particular event had left Harry James Potter wounded and an orphan at a young age. He was then left to the mercy of his aunt and uncle. Remus had deposited
him in a chair, and that was where he sat presently in a very moody state.
"Yes, she would be," he sighed softly. Remus was now putting food on a plate for Harry. He was doing it as fast as he could. It was nearly one o'clock,
and Harry must be starving. At that point Harry dragged himself from his chair and walked to Remus's side. He was weak and slow, but he did it. He tugged
at Remus's sleeve.
"I'm hungry," he whined. Remus was frustrated, yet what could he do. Of course he was using magic, but even with it, he couldn't go any faster. Muggles,
though, seemed to think once you have magic you could do anything in a flash, but he couldn't even if he wished for it. He remembered an old saying his
grandfather use to say. It went along the line of: "If I could do magic, Remus, it'd be done. Since I can't, you'd have
to wait." He hadn't only heard it from his grandfather, but also from many other muggles.
He put his wand down on the counter, and picked Harry up. He carried him over to where he was at before. He put Harry on the chair once more.
"I'm trying, Harry. I'll be done in a bit," Remus said comforting him and then he return quickly to the counter. Harry was now fussing at the table. He
looked miserably down at his feet.
"Remus," Harry whined from the table. His eyes now slightly filling and up looking at Remus. Remus was now staring now at his halfway done food in the pan.
He couldn't just go waving his wand madly and things would finished itself in seconds . Sure, maybe with tea cakes or other very simple things he could
summon, but not things he had to cook.
"Harry, give me a few more minutes," he said frying up something. After about five minutes he was done. Remus set it down on Harry's plate. He brought it
to the table. Harry was slumped now on the table strangely silent.
"Harry! Harry," Remus called out slightly tapping Harry's shoulder with his wand, "Dad can you make sure this food is put away temporarily? I'll have some
lunch with you, and Harry can eat later. Thank you."
Remus slipped his wand back in his robes, and lifted Harry who was clearly asleep from the table. He brought him upstairs. He tucked him into his cover.
He stood back and looked at the peaceful form of Harry James Potter just laying there fast asleep.
He was so peaceful and in such a way a great resemblance to James that it was almost unbearable. He turned around, saw his mother, and nodded. He exited
the room silently. He had memories of the Marauders and their pranks buzzing around in his head. Those were the good times.
John said as Remus walked back into the kitchen, "Well, Harry has certainly got his little attractions. Well, mind you, not when he's moody, though." John
was at the stove cooking food. With Remus's help they both finished up making to the lunch.
Remus asked as they got out the plates, "No! Well, he must be tired. Was he moody for long, Father?" Remus put equal amounts on the plates and set them
neatly on the table. John bustled around getting everything else set. The kitchen was buzzing with busyness, and both men were getting the table ready.
"About half an hour," John stated sitting wearily down at the ta
"About half an hour," John stated sitting wearily down at the table sighing. Remus sat down beside his father and started to cut up his food. Remus frowned
at his plate, and thought hard. That was quiet sometime then. Half an hour was quite a while to struggle, especially, for a young moody child such as Harry.
He started to eat still pondering the matter.
"I'm surprise he lasted for so long," Remus said after some mouthfuls. He certainly felt better. It was now about one thirty and he hadn't had breakfast
since eight. Being on an empty stomach was not pleasant and now that he had eaten some of his meal he felt better. It was nice to eat and food was much
welcomed to his now yearning intestines.
"He was struggling toward the end, there. He wanted to wait for you," John said passionately leaning towards Remus. Remus didn't know how to feel about
all this. It was so dear and kind. He had been tired and hungry, but he had lasted through the hunger to do these things with Remus. It was as if Harry
was incapable of doing things by himself, but on the contrary, he could do a lot more than he should actually attempted. He simply wanted his favorite
person present.
"He's a bit attached to me, I suppose. As I had mentioned it's a bit hard for him," Remus commented quietly. John nodded in agreement. John understood it
well. This was his son, Remus, who Harry loved. Remus after all had a very tender side to him, and was easy to be attached to. A little boy such as Harry
especially would be attached quickly. He nodded slightly at Remus, and continued eating. John's plate was now half empty.
"Well, it's to be expected," he said understandingly. Dianna now walked in and heard what John had said. She knew what they were speaking of just by what
she heard. There was one person that could be of suspicion. She sat down at the table where John had also set out her plate of food. She sat down.
"Poor dear. He's so thin. He's so adorable just laying still, there. Just a bit thin," she muttered starting to eat. The two quiet men sitting at the table
thoughtfully heard what Dianna had to say.
"Yes, he's a bit thin, but we'll fix it up soon without spoiling him," Remus commented. He now finished off his plate quickly.
Harry was indeed never allowed to eat much, and even- on the first full day he had noticed it. He sighed, and knew he would have to work hard to persuade
Harry to eat more. If he was not wrong, this was going to be a hard task, because it was not any easy task when he had to make prongs do anything either,
and especially if it involved listening to Moony telling him what to do when not pranking. He remember trying to keep James from breaking Hogwarts's rules,
but James and Sirius had just laughed at his pathetic attempts.
"He's adorable, it's hard not to," Dianna sighed sitting back in her chair. She loved the boy dearly. He was perhaps not as close to her as she liked it,
but again it wasn't as if she was not a stranger to him.
Remus said responding to his mother, "We should not, though. We, however have a lot of undoing to do. He's been so brutally abused. He doesn't realize that
the abuse isn't some normal thing." He looked worried and thoughtful. Remus knew it would be a hard journey. He'd have to learn the difference between
spoiling and loving. His mother was right, it was going to be hard not to soil Harry, but he knew he must not be spoiled. Dianna saw the worry on Remus's
face.
"Don't you worry. He's the sweetest boy in the world," Dianna now said. Remus got up and so did his parents. Together they started to cleaned up the table
and the dishes.
"I dare say you're about right," John said as he sprayed water on the bowl and made the soap bottle to hover over the bowls. Remus was waving his wand over
the table.
"I agree, however, there are some problems we need to fix. How he's expected to be treated or rather how everyone's treatment isn't going to be abusive,"
Remus said walking over to the stove, and he summoned a container. He transferred the leftovers to go into it. All this time Dianna was rearranging things
on top of the counter.
She said straightening up, "Poor dear, he must had endured a load of trouble." Remus nodded, and he thought back to what Harry had told him. He looked at
the clock, and sat down at the table. He contemplated the idea for a while.
"Oh yes. Perhaps we should do something special for him," John said cheerily. Remus looked around at his father. He had thought of a party for Harry, but
now a big one was near impossible. The ministry was after them. He just hoped that Albus could help him on this little dilemma.
Remus thought harder, and remembered that morning. Did Fudge not listen to him? That was not a good sign at all. He still thought it would be ideal to bring
the subject up, so he did. He looked straight in to his father's eyes.
"It's his birthday coming up next Wednesday," Remus said sighing. He really didn't know what to do at all.
Harry had never had presents or a party. He didn't want to frighten him and yet doing nothing seemed rather oddly uncivilly rude. There was also another
circumstance with the Ministry Of Magic hot on their trail and so that was also in the way. He sighed not knowing where to turn, and how to deal with this
particular dilemma. He didn't want to get his parents in trouble, but wanted to please Harry at the very same time. This was a much bigger dilemma than
he'd had actually expected. Either way, one party would not be as happy as could be, and they both needed thinking about.
"Now there's something," John said joyfully as his face was plaster with a huge grin. Remus frowned at him. He was rather surprised by his father's enthusiastic
spirits. He wondered if his father knew what this party could bring.
He also didn't know there was still such great energy in his rather elderly father. He was fifty-four, Remus had to remember. This must be the greatness
of child or grandchildren. Harry had also made Remus very energetic, so it must be. He was puzzled at this power of children, however. Dianna smiled too,
but she didn't seem as enthused
"Yes, indeed," Dianna said calmly, but Remus could tell she was excited herself. John now stood up, and exited. Remus glanced at Dianna who glanced back
with that knowing look. Remus wondered what bright idea his father had this time. He always did this even when Remus was a small child. He'd leave when
he had an excellent idea, then return with something. Remus thought for a moment. What would it be this time, a huge bag of Remus's party supplies?
"A nice grand party would do," John said returning a minute later.

The good-by Challenge
Written by Little Dreamer/The Grey Detective
Since I lost intrest in Harry potter and have moved on to more philosophical reads, I have lost interest in fanfictions. So, this will be my last post for
now. I don’t think I’ll come back.
Now, for people who like my writing style, I am
Rachel The Philosophical
On
Now with the challenge I promised
This is a open and friendly challenge to everyone and anyone. It’s unusual in this way:
1 no judging
2 no prizes
3 I will not read them
4 you should consider this as a offering of a story I am no longer interested in.
Please e-mail any question by way of p.m.
Reviews will be checked, szo if you want to be part of this, I suggest you tell me. I am curious to just how many is interested
Prompt:
Simply continue this story. Do it as I would, and don’t change what I have already too drastically. Some characterization change is fine, but things that
will make this story unrecognizable should not be performed to this story.
Such as:
Remus ditching Harry in the luncheon chapter after all.
Harry’s age
A different except for Remus raising Harry.
Time travel of any sort in the prewritten chapters
And things as such.
Requirements
1 Everyone should be in character.
2 keep faith to the story as possible
3 my original characters have to be just as they are. Sure, getting rid of them in a up coming chapter is fine, but make do things natural to them.
Remember: John and dianna are pretty modest so jumping off a cliff or such similar actions is not advisable
4 The character Venus Stewarts if used can be changed around. She has no set personality as of far.
5 Please don’t attempt to make this in to a crossover
6 yes, Remus has to raise Harry until his death in Dh if you wish to go that far.
7 Please post these on your account or rather the modify ones.
8 Indicate it’s the guardian Challenge.
9 I must be credited.
10 You could rename or keep the title as The Hero’s guardian
12 You could use my summary.
13 Please don’t ask me to beta it.
14 Harry shouldn’t be bitten
15 a sequel is allowed, and if you want to use my later idea as a sequel, go on.
16 Neither can be gay or fall in love as neither is gay or falls in love with the other in the books.
17 This story was meant to be relationship and character development heavy, but if you want to change the genre you can. I just hope it’s not romance as
the developments wasn’t meant to be in that category.
18 don’t skip to much time.
19 keep good pace
Guidance/my ideas for what I had planned out.
You can use all, some, or none of these
1 The planning
Remus parents and remus sits down and talk about not spoiling Harry and their party plan
2 argument between dumbledore and minister about the guardianship
3 Harry gets James’s old quidditch play/modeling playset as James had lost it at Remus’s paren’s house after demonstrating new tactics to remus and Sirius.
4 The first dinner as promised by Dumbledore
5 birthday party
a games
b cake and presents
c adult and children interaction
d preparations beforehand
6 Harry, and Ron and maybe a few other little kids play at dress up. Acts something.
I had The Three brothers or the one narrated in DH.
7 maybe around seven or eight have Remus explain his fame and everything to Harry.
8 A trip to diagon alley undisguised. The Reactions of everyone.
9 Harry’s upset he’s not learning enough. He gets tired of studying. Have a little fit. Maybe show some child magic.
10 Hogwarts Letter, shopping, and maybe train station
sequel suggestion
If you are planning to write after Harry is eleven, maybe this is a good idea. If you don’t want to do the regular school experience, maybe you can do corresponding
letters from Harry to Remus and the other way round.
